    Difference between Dextrose and Maltodextrin

I believe one is a simple and one is a complex carb, but I dont understand the difference in what to use for a post workout shake? I use 40-45 grams of whey and 80 grams of dextrose. Should i use matlo instead? If so, why? Someone enlighten me please.

    Thanks.

    50/50 Dextrose Maltodextrin

I've read that you should mix dextrose and maltodextrin 50/50. Another option, which is kind of expensive, is Vitargo. It's sold flavored or unflavored, and its a designer carb thats supposed to enhance nutrient uptake. It's also sold mixed with creatine.

Maltodextrin and dextrins in general are derived from starch. They are used as food additives and are absorbed as fast as dextrose. It is gluten free and is used in low fat foods to add consistency to the food stuff, it is moderately sweet in taste.

It doesnt matter really, they both will spike insulin very rapidly. It might be more a matter of taste than anything.
