    Vitamin C question

It has been about two and a half years years since I have read Johan's comments about the benefits of Vitamin C. For about a year and a half I was averaging about 2.5 grams of Vit. C a day. Well about 7 months ago I decided to stop taking that amount of Vitamin C because I simply did not want my body to get used to it. Since that time I have noticed that my hair has gotten thinner and is falling out excessively on the top of my head. Besides my hair, there has been no other changes to my body since I have stopped taking the Vitamin C. Is the lack of Vit. C caused my hair to thin and fall out? Anyone else notice their hair changing from Vit.C supplementation? Johan?

When taking excessive dosages of vitamin c for long periods of time, then stopping can cause the symptoms of scurvy. But hair falling out of your head doesn't sound like a symptom of scurvy. What other changes have you made?

That is the only diet change I have made. The reason I am leaning towards Vitamin C as the problem is because it plays such a vital role in the growth of nails, hair, etc., plus I have no other diet changes.

years ago i thought it would be a good idea to megadose vitamin C for the anti-oxidant benefits. i ended up getting a skin rash and checking into the doctor. it was acute vitamin C poisoning. easy to fix, cause its water soluble. just stop taking for a few days. i was taking like 5g per day.

just make sure you get your DV and a little more. i dont buy into the megadoes vit C stuff ppl recommend. except maybe when starting to feel sick then i still do.

Yeah but my worry is that my body became accustomed to taking 2.5 grams of Vitamin C a day. Since I have stopped taking this dosage, which is about nine months now, I have noticed the thinning of my hair.
