Question on sugar intake/insulin spike
ok well im curious, how much sugar does it take to spike your insulin ?
reason why i ask is because i was eating my usual chicken sandwich (6oz breast, 2 whole wheat breads) which is about 40g pro, 25g carb. 4.5g fat
but here is the thing... i thought id spice it up and add some sweet relish to it, the servings is 1 tblsp is 1g carb (1 sugar)
now of course 1g sugar wont spike your insulin, but maaaaaan !!! that tblsp made my sandwhich real SWEET !!! it felt like i poured a huge tablespoon of table sugar !!!
so my question is, seein as how i want my insulin levels to be stable and i dont want my insulin spiked, how much sugar do i actually have to eat to spike my insulin?
and please guys, dont tell me i know my own body, because if that were the case, i would get hyper, or bloated, or angry or i would get some kind of symptom if my insulin is spiked, but i dont! which is why im askin, i feel the same all throughout the day, spike insulin or not, so i really cant tell the difference
so yea, anyone can help me out? thanks alot in advance !!!Last edited by Slaiv; 12-18-2007 at 04:04 PM.

You could buy one of those blood meters that diabetics use to monitor their blood sugar. One simple pin prick and then you would know exactly where you are at.
Peace,
