    Smile Why not white rice?

Perhaps this sounds like a stupid question, but I don't see any difference in the nutritional values as listed on the packages. I'm sure there is a good reason brown rice always get the nod. I just don't know what the reason is. Also, what would I stand to lose by eating tasty white rice instead of brown rice?

I use white rice most of the time and haven't noticed a difference in progress. The main difference between white and brown rices are the vitamins and fiber are greatly reduced in white rice. The fiber and vitamins are reduced when the rice is milled which takes the outer layer of the grain off and that outer layer contains a lot of the nutrients. If you're getting fiber and vitamins from other sources, don't worry about it!

Actually I did alot of freaking research into this and its more then just fiber and vitamins their are 2 types of carbohydrates in the rice and the grain length determines the mix of these two carbohydrates each having a different GI index so when combined in the rice grain as you can deduce it causes different GI indexes if your going to eat white rice get the Long grain or extra long grains and if you can get it parboiled as the longer the grain the less high GI carbohydrate is in the rice and if parboiled it strips more the higher GI carbohydrate so the perfect white rice would be Extra long grain parboiled White...

And the perfect brown rice would be the same Extra Long grain parboiled brown...which is what i eat

White rice is basicall brown rice with all the vitamins and nutrients "scraped" off. Brown rice is nutrionally better.
