    Hook me up!

im 27 years old. I weigh 340 lbs and stand 6'2. My goal right now is to get to 275. I want to take baby steps. I want to get into routine of working out again. I want to lose fat but also start buildng muscle. Been a very long time since I worked out and since car accident. Searched and became a little overwhelming. Just want a push in right direction, maybe someone to take me under their wing and tell me how to get started. what to eat, what not to eat. cardio, lifting, both? just need a big brother...lol.

    Thanks for advice and help

cut out the carbs till you drop some weight, the watch the portions and cardio, cardio, cardio. start off with 1/2 hour cardio adding 10 min every week till you get up to an hour.

Calorie intake<Calorie spent=weight loss. With the correct macros you can lost fat and minimize catabolism. Getting you diet down requires some work.

AM cardio on an empty stomach IMO is a great start to lossing fat!!. Start slow and work your way up. If you really wanna do this, then this is the best place for you to learn and obtain info on diet and exercise. I like that you have a short term goal set at 275, but do this balls to the wall and set a long term goal as well. Don't be afraid to ask ?'s, and post us a proposed diet plan, and I know I, as well as others here will help ya out. Best of luck

thank you also prada and kman. You know what, your right. lets make one goal and just go for it, what the hell. I am setting my goal to be.....235. why? because my girl likes me big. I think im naturaly a big guy. I just want to be a big guy that is healthy and in good shape, if that makes any sense. Prada suggested morning cardio on a empty stomach. Would it be ok if say I did 30 min cardio on empty stomach in a.m. and another 30-60 min late in the evening? around 7ish? I personaly want to work on cardio for a while before I start with the weight training. would that be ok as well?

That would be fine. Diet is going to be key as well. Put them both together and watch the fat come off!! It will take time, and be tough, but results and being healthy are worth the effort. Post your diet up, so we can help you tweak it..

post a proposed diet plan? Ok, I will give it a shot but be gentle..I'm very new to this.

    A.M. Cardio on empty stomach
Oatmeal for breakfast or a good cereal high in fiber using soy milk
(or do i skip breakfast because i did cardio on empty stomach)

a snack bar (recommend any good ones?) or fruit or veggies for snack
turkey sandwich with no condoments on wheat bread along with some carrot sticks.
( open to suggestions for lunch also, like i said i am new to this)

another snack probably consisting of opposite of what i ate for previous snack
for dinner i would do up a chicken breast with maybe some asparagus or some type of veggies.

I would then do another 30-60 min of cardio probably a few hours before bed time.

Well what do you guys think? way off course?

I should probably mention that right now my habbits are bad. I will get up and go all day with no breakfast, snacks or lunch. I will get home grab something, anything and be off to boys games or practices. I will get home and eat almost everything in site and go right to bed. Terrible I know.

Read the sticky at the top of the page!!! Read as much as possible and use the search button in this forum for answers. Oatmeal is good for breakfast, just make sure they are the old fashion oats, or rolled oats. You need a form of protein with your breakfast, such as egg whites. Lose the snacks, and replace with lean protein and good fats and good carbs. I will check back later when I have more time, so for now you have a cardio plan, and a good breakfast. Hey its a start!!!!!
