seriously... wtf.
Try a weight gainer, some of those have upwards of 2k calories per serving...
Check out the sticky at the top of the page "so you want to learn to diet" muriloninja posted it. VERY helpful information in those vids. He explains how to diet, to either gain weight, or lose.

I just plugged in your stats top the spreadsheet (guessed age at 20) and 2300 calories is too low for bulking.

You should try eating one of those 3 lb bags of chicken breasts from the grocery store EVERY DAY. There is about 250 grams of protein per bag.

i would be willing to bet your body would burn more than 2300 per day if you were sitting on the couch all day...you need to eat more...

ok. first of all you want help... there are diet stickys at the top of the diet section that you clearly haven't looked at. WHERE IS YOUR PROTEIN???? what kind of lean meat are you eating? none? because it sure looks like it. forget the mini wheats and pasta and subs and eat a cup of oats and a couple chicken breasts for a few of your meals a day.

i put your info in that spreadsheet and at age 25 (we are missing this piece of the puzzle) you have to be over 2700 if you do anything remotely close to exercise; if you are working out regularly it is more like 3-3500...and you definitely need more protein...

ok ok i get it but, i am a full time college student that works at a pizza shop....not exactly rich and in the pass week i have manage to eat about 1000 calories a meal...for 3 meals, with plenty of snacks inbetween (example of my snacks would be granola bar, apple sauce, yogurt) im getting my vitamins i just have trouble getting my protein because i am always on the run and it takes time to cook which is why i asked about whey protein (60$$$ Ill sell my soul) I really want this though so i will sacrafice the money. but even since i started the whole diet(1 month) thing i havent gain literally 1 pound and have now increased from 2300 to 3000 calories a day or sometimes more. before i even started the diet i was prolly only eating around 1800.. I need go to the doctors and get my thyroid checked if you ask me...im not looking for immediate results but i think by using common sense i woulda gained at least 1 pound.

***quit finding excuses for your lack of commitment.*** i am a BACS too (broke ass college student) and i make due with oats, chicken, and tuna for weeks. it sucks but IF YOU REALLY WANT IT all you have to do is cook a bag of chicken and bring it with you and put it in the fridge. bring along some fresh fruit and veggies and there you go. every break you get eat some.

First off, an angry title like that will not encourage the more experienced members to help you out.
Secondly, your petulance should be directed at your own efforts, not the supposed lack of attempt to aid you by other members.
You can read as many replies as you want, but the only answer you need is this:
You are simply not eating enough
2.5k cals is about right for mr average. Shoot for 5-6k quality cals and your problem will have disappeared.

you wonder why you are not growing eating 2300 cals of crap. Seriously you need to educate yourself. This is basic maths and common sense mate. You are eating less cals than your body needs. Yiu will NEVER gain eating that low in cals. I cut on more cals than that.
Go buy some decent wholefoods. Chicken frozen breasts, frozen white fish fillets, Brown rice, oats, eggs and some flax oil. This will be cheaper than the current processed rubbish you are eating. Shoot for 4000cals clean and work from there. If you are not gaining add another 200 cals and keep doing that till you do gain.

Are you seriously saying that you googled flaxseed oil and got no good information? I would just eat peanut butter instead.
Tuna, oatmeal and peanut butter are dirt cheap. Skip shakes.

you need to post your diet. 3500 calories doesn't mean anything without your foods. because looking at your previous diet 3500 calories is going to come from junk.

Get reading, you have much to learn. Your diet is so cack I am wondering if you are winding us all up. Use the sample diets stickied in this forum as a base.
P.S. Cheerio's are about as healthy as a crack addiction.

2300 calories? if you still cant gain id go to 4 or even 5 thousand calories. you must have an extremely fast metabolism. and take weight gainer shakes, with WHOLE milk. shit, you could probably use half and half lol.

Is this your advice for him? If so its absolutely terrible, and you should do a lot more reading before you start to help others because its really no help at all.
Lets see, you have his fat jumping between meals from about 5g to upwards of 40g. You have his protein going from 30g to around 60g. You have NO consideration for portion sizes or overall macro counts and calories. And its jut a plain awful diet to suggest to someone who is trying to learn how to gain weight.
This looks like the type of diet I see 16 year old make up when they try to get big for about a month at the gym then give up lol.
