Sugar Intake
I've got some Fat Free and Low Fat yogurt I found in the fridge and was thinking about adding it to my lean bulk diet just something small to keep the stomach full. The only problem is that it has 14g of sugar in it. That seems like way too much to me and I read somewhere that it isnt good to spike you insulin , I tried finding that article again but had no luck. Some enlightment would be great fellas.
Appreciate it

wow 14 grams of sugar is a lot. That's to much sugar for a lean bulk. If you were just strictly bulking then I would say go for it. Sugar is extremely high in the glycemic index, in which it does indeed spike your insulin . I spike in insulin effects your blood sugar levels and causes a storage of glycogen, aka fat storage. I try to stay away from high glycemic except post workout. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the input guys. I 'm going to give the yogurt a try. I will eat it with a meal before the gym so I can put the sugar to good use.

So whats the final answer? Ok to add? Or no?
I dont think it will hurt but just wanted to see what some others thought.

you will hardly even get an insulin response from it. 14g isn't bad at all. if it fits use it up.

Did you really need to reply to my reply! I agree 14 grams of sugar isn't that big of a deal, if he is eating really clean during his other meals and snacks. If he is consuming sugar with his other meals and snacks (excluding post workout) the 14 grams added to this other consumption of sugar throughout the day could pose a problem! I am a firm believer in keeping the insulin spike to a minimum for a "cut" or "lean bulk".

research an insulin spike. you use that phrase so much and it doesn't even occur with eating. there is merely a response even in the face of 80g of pure dextrose/glucose. 14g of lactose or fructose is hardly going to budge your insulin level.

Well guys I can see that we aren't going to come to terms on this topic so we can agree to disagree! I was simply trying to offer my advice to the op and if it were me I wouldn't add yogurt to my diet if it contained 14g of sugar. Actually last night I picked up a cup of yogurt out of the frig and saw it had 10g of sugar, so I only ate half of it. Maybe I monitor sugar to strictly but everyone is different and that's what works for me!
