Okay? Large amounts of Fiber WITH Fat...

    Hey guys -

Is it okay (from a fat burning standpoint) to have a Protein + Fat Meal w/ a fiber supplement (like 5-10G of fiber)?

Or does this defeat the whole purpose?

    Thank you -
    BB

defeat what? i always take fiber after my beef meals or cheat meals without fiber.
i think fiber is critical in a diet.

fiber slows down digestion and helps nutrients get absorbed.

well his point was you want to separate fat and carbohydrates but fiber is very important, so he was asking if he can still have fiber even with his fat meals

fiber doesnt count as carbs because it isn't absorbed by the body. that's why your suppose to subtract fiber from carbs when looking at the nutrition label.

there is nothing wrong with having fiber with your fat meal.

fiber usually slows digestion keeping bloodglucose levels more stable.

thing is if u use a bunch of hardcore fiber like pysillium husk.. your basically making a bulking laxative and will push the food out before its been completely digested thus reducing the amount of cals absorbed.. basically its a user friendly version of bulimia

if i have a cheat meal i will down about 20g of fiber from sugar free metamucil. makes me a little gassy since like Tai said, it is not allowing for proper digestion of that crap meal. but there is absolutely nothing wrong with fiber in a fatty meal.
