How long can a protein shake be good when mixed with whole eggs then left in the refrigerator? will you need to consume al 24 oz in one sitting or ist it good to keep for the whole day? is there a chance of salmonella (sp)poisoning? thanks

i put 1-2 raw whole eggs in my shakes all the time, have never had a problem. The chances of actually getting salmonella are very slim, many many many times less than getting in a car accident

I have read that the chances of getting Salmonella are roughly 1 in 30,000 eggs, and the chances are even less if you have a strong immune system or if you take herbal anti-pathogen supplements such as kyolic (aged garlic extract).

I thought I read somewhere that your body couldn't process the protein and nutrients in raw eggs. I heard that the egg has to be cooked for your body to make use of the protein. Did I hear wrong?

Yes, I use to combined 3 raw with my shake in the morning till I learned on here that with raw eggs your body cant process all the protein in raw eggs. they have to be cooked to reach the full benefits of eggs.

I'm not too sure about this. Are you sure? It seems to be that cooking destroys the enzymes in eggs...but I may be wrong.

    anyone else?

you need to cook egg whites, period. if they are pasteurized they have been heated and the proteins can be properly absorbed. until those regular whites are heated the protein has an extremely low bioavailability, and would be a waste.
