When I first saw net carbs on nutrition bar I knew it was suspect.

Is there any upside to these sugar alcohols at all? Does anyone use these bars in extreme emergencies or should they be avoided at all costs? How do I prove these are horrid? I have to get my wife to stop eating these.

I would appreciate not having "the whole foods always better" answer, I already know that.
