    Cutting and Bulking

So I'm going to try and wrestle in college, lol No Juicing im not ready anyways, but I was wondering what the most effective way to cut and bulk would be.

I'm currently roughly 180 and my desired weight class is 174. Right now I'm working on cutting down to 170ish and I'm planning on bulking up once I reach that weight and maybe get back to a little under 180 then cut buck down to 74 again.

Is this the best way to do it in my current situation?

    6 pounds? lol...
if you're on a serious team i'm guessing you'll be cutting to 165 atleast. i don't think i've ever met a wrestler who cuts anything besides water weight. if you cut with diet, you'll be small for your weight (which is worse than being tired from cutting water)

dude i wrestled for many years. Most the time your cutting water weight for wrestling. During the off season is when you bulk and cut. You bulk up get all built and cut to be the around the weight class your thinking. From there the season starts and for me.. if i decided to go up in a weight or go down in a class weight depending on how far i want to push myself and what my weights were. Since its not close to winter you should be bulking now and cutting during spring. if you bulk wrong or cut wrong you will **** your team. You should be BULKING only now.. put on as much muscle as you can work on putting on lean muscle when it comes close to the season you should be cutting weight. Ie: alot of reps not heavy weight and lots of conditioning.

Haha well I have no intentions of starting because I'm going to a D1 school, just gonna try and walk on and be part of the team. Heh I used to weigh 240, and now to 180. I only really got serious about this about 2-3 weeks ago so I guess I already screwed myself haha

Ya and I really don't know that much about cutting weight for wrestling. I wrestled at 215 and only had to cut weight my sophmore year for like the first two weigh ins. Jr. Year i was like 205 and this year i was like 195.

I guess your right though cus my friend weighed 130 naturally and cut to 119 his Jr. year. Lol but he became a national champion this year only cutting like 3-5 pounds.

he must be a very gifted wrestler then. but you're coach will want you cutting as much weight as possible in most cases. especially if the 174 kid is good, he won't risk bumping him up, but make you cut more.

i was cutting anywhere from 9-15 pounds to make 160 this season, and other kids would cut the same. even the best kids on the team had to cut, just to make sure you could get the best wrestlers on the line up.

what school are you going to?

But ya, that kid is really gifted, he's goin to Columbia next year

ya.. i might just talk to the coach and maybe try and red-shirt, or just lift for a year, but I feel like if I were to train with the team it would be really beneficial. If I'm not gonna start, I could probably just wrestle with the team, I think they send bench people to open tournaments and stuff. If it didnt matter I just wouldn't watch my weight as much and could bulk like crazy during the year.
