    Mashed Potatos for cutting diet

i've gotten sick of brown rice, so recently switched to mashed potatos for an alternative to brown rice..i make it with fat-free milk and felt that it doesnt seem that bad for a dinner meal with fish/boneless chicken breast ..

would you find it as a good alternative for brown rice, if not any others?

    Cals - 170
    fat - 0.5
    carbs-18g
    protein - 2g

doesnt seem like a bad alternative to brown rice? opinions?

the problem with mashed potatos is that its a starch and starches convert to sugar in our bodys therefore posibly making u fat.eat them post workout when the body can utilize these simple carbs. brown rice is a slower burrning carb and r better on non workout days.

Mashed Potatoes and cutting would be a definate no-no. For that matter I wouldnt even eat them when bulking. Make mashed sweet potatoes (or maybe even mashed red potatoes), like everyone else is saying, they taste better anyway IMO. But definately drop the regular mashed potatoes ASAP. An insulin spike at anytime other than PWO will be counter-productive to your cutting diet.
