Tuna + Mercury
Lately I've been getting a lot of flack about how much tuna I consume and how the mercury content is horrible for me. I eat a bowl of tuna everyday for lunch. How unsafe is this exactly?

A serving of tuna a day!!!!! Are you joking??? Bro you're gonna die!!! The sky is falling!!! Holy hell we're being invaded by giant crab like creatures!!!
Anyways....1 serving of tuna a day you're fine...yes you can develop mercury poisoning from large amounts of fish, just keep an eye on it and you'll be fine bro....and by the way I wasn't hassling ya, just joking around.

I wouldn't recommend more than a serving a day if you eat it everyday...I generally keep it about 4-5 servings for the entire week except when dieting. I prefer tuna steaks over the canned stuff but baggers can't be choosers. Yes I like tuna, but there is salmon, tilapia, cod, snapper...I mean so much to choose from don't ever limit yourself.

I've been eating 3 cans a day for the past 4 -5 months.
My skin is glowing green and I can move things with my mind, but other than that I'm fine.
J/K Tex you're a bad influence on me LOL
...But seriously, you'll be fine. I wouldn't recommend it for a pregnant woman, but for a healthy grown man, no big.

I'd choose the Gulf of Mexico anyday A lot less well, wet over there, compared to Ireland which is generally 9 degrees and wet.
I'm from Cork myself right at the southern part of Ireland. Nice spot when it is sunny like all of Ireland but when it rains it's shit.

Both sides of the family are from either County Mayo and County Clare areas....I understand the weather, but I'm still looking forward to visiting sometime. LOL...I'd take the wet over this damn heat....guess no matter where ya live, ya just get tired of it.

Ya sure everywhere you go on hols is the best place until you have to live there haha and as you say it get's tiring.
Ahh Mayo is a bit of a trip away some great scenery up there and Clare is good, go see the River Shannon it is cool. But if you really want to see cool places go to Kerry and go across Molls Gap and have a stop by the Cork and Kerry mountains. They are all cool to see.
It's worth the trip all right.

I've averaged like 4 cans a day for nearly 5 years now and i'm still alive and kicking. Today i was talking to a food science grad student who claims unless you are pregnant or an infant, tuna is perfectly fine. the mercury is really over-hyped

no joke the tuna got old a long long long long long time ago. I will put just about anything on it to mask the taste as much as possible.

Ahh I know it is well a bit bland. I just throw some Ketchup on it with pasta does it grand or some simple tomato pasta sauce does the job. Or if I'm up for it plain which is rather rare thing for me.

Unless your ten years old or pregnant the amount of tuna you would have to eat to have any significant dose of mercury is probably about 3/4ths of a spoon full........And plus global warming will get you first.

I have thought a little about eating fish and mercury. I know mercury is mostly bad for women and young children. I think it depends on were they have caught the fish. Isn´t it because of like poison or oil in the water that the fish gets mercury??
A guy on youtube that talks about health told me that I can eat fish 2- 3 times a week.

Exactly, they kinda frown on that sort of thing. Posting new threads just keeps the board fresh and the information up to date.
