cycling carbs while being an athlete

Whats up guys. Havnt been on here in a while. Well I had dieted all summer and got down to about 190, was looking pretty solid. Then I got back to college and the diet went down the crapper and I put on a lot of weight, and not the kind I wanted. Heres the deal. Im on the hockey team and school. I started cycling my carbs to get back down to a reasonable weight but my practice landed on a no carb day and I played like total shit. Felt weak and hungry the whole day.
    Heres what Im doing....
High, No, Low, Low, repeat. On the No carb day I up the protein and eat just fiberous carbs. On Low carb days I eat Oats in the Morning and after workout, everythign else coinsides with a No carb day.
Should I bail on the diet, make every day I skate a Load day, or is there some ideas that you guys got. I really need to loose the weight but I have put on some good mass while I have been eating like crap for the past 3 months and I dont want to loose the muscle

We need a meal by meal break down with macros and portions to really help you out with this bro... If you're very active, which may the case since you play hockey, you can probably get away with more carbs than most even though you're cutting... You could always do a lean bulk which will drop the fat and add muscle, but is a more strict diet...

Fit's right we really need a breakdown of the macro's and your activity level. I have carb cycled before in about the same manner as you are and I can tell you if you are having hockey practice on a "no carb day" then you are doing more harm than good. Yeah you might shed some fat but you are going to shed a lot of muscle as well. If I were you I would run my high and low carb days on days you have hockey practice and leave the no carb days to days you don't have practice. Like Fit said if you are highly active and have practice often then you can prob get away with running higher carbs and still drop the fat. If you have practice 3-5 days a week, I would drop the no carb day all together and run high/medium carbs on days you have practice and low carbs on your off days.
