    Protein ? NO !

my nutrionist who is the greatest in europa in his field ( sport nutrition for bodybuilders) told me that

" protein doesn't allow to get HUGE"

"that's bullshit to make people thinking that they bulk up by eating a lot of protein"

to bulk up muscles, the only way to reach it, it's eat a few protein and a lot of carbs !

he told me that : "bodybuilders know that but they can't say it because there is a whole business walking around protein pouder " and this is this business which pay them for adversiting and for all that shit.

what do you think about ?

i think adequate protein is essential but the rule many follow 2g/lb of body weight is nonsense. Many factors play in this imo though ..one is aas use..the way some of them increase rate of protein synthesis...individual body chemistry. I have read several varying studies that say the human body can only digest 40g protein at 1 meal for men 30g for women. I dunno for sure. I wouldnt skimp too much but no need to go overboard either. Interesting note franco columbo never ingested more than .5g/lb of bodyweight and bulked they way u mentioned above...by carb increase.....

Id like to see any studies that confirm that the human body can only digest 40g of protein in one meal.

ummm google it . If i am correct the thoery began with the fact that over 40 grams at one sitting caused stomach and intestional distress and indigestion issues which are preliminary signs the body is struggling to digest type/quantity of food ingested. There are studies going both ways on this and it is topic of hot debate. 2 things that cannot be disputed imo ...
1- more protein does not = more muscle mass. In other words 100g/day additional protein over bodies base need based on activites , support of muscle mass, muscle repair/building etc.. will not ensure muscle gains in any form
2- too much protein if it takes you over your caloric needs...will simply cause you to gain bodyfat ..although not the most efficient macro nutrient for bodyfat storage protein can make u fat just like carbs or fat...

dont get me wrong man i think protein is essential and needs vary based on individual and goals ...as i said supplementation , body chemistry , base nutritional needs established by activities you undertake etc.... My point is a general rule of 2g/lb isnt a good idea ...id like to see the individula taylor it to their own body thats all...dont get wrong idea. I think its a great topic actually....

Ive goggled it many times jimmy and know many others that have tried. However ive never seen one scientific study to prove this.

I think the literature is inconclusive as to how much the body can digest in one sitting. I have seen studies that say only 20 grams, I have seen studies that say as high as 60 grams in a sitting. So who the hell knows.......LOL

    To the OP,

Your nutritionist is correct in the fact if you only eat high amounts of protein that you will not gain as much. Of course a balanced diet is the key, and bodybuilders and athletes do need more protein than the average person. I would tend to agree with him that is silly for the typical recreational weight lifter to consume huge amounts of protein like 400 grams of protein a day.

I searched as well....and it appears you're correct i figured there would be plenty. I know ive read several times that that was the case (prob not scientific studies)However everything I found appears anecdotal not scientific...i remember reading an article somewhere that stated for proteins to be broken down into aminos specific enzymes were required and since there was a max enzyme amount avail at any one time could only therefore digest a certain amount of protein before the rest passed along our digestive tract. I am pretty sure that was scientific study based re: getting older and protein requirements. However you are right as of right now i cant find any....i should have said articles not studies....i stand corrected...
My thoughts re protein intake remain the same but i appreciate the correction ...i want my post info 2 be accurate....

I'd rather eat too much protein than too little to be honest. With a balanced diet, and support supps you're body should be able to handle the additional amounts; so long as it's not like 5g/lb. I try to stick with 1.5g/lb though myself.

good point size ...if by handle you mean process the surplus safely ...i agree 100% - to little would be worse than too much to a reasonable point. i think 1.5g/lb reasonable but not to excessive myself..good starting point imo..

moderation is always key. when you indulge excessively in whatever you do, something else always suffers.
