What do i eat when i wake up at night?!

    Hey guys,

I am currently under a strict clean diet and have been for the past month. My diet looks almost identical to the sample cut diet stickied at the top of the diet page.
(6 meals Lean meats chicken/fish only, green veggies, carbs for breakfast and Post W/O. AND ABSOLUTELY LOW SALT)
I am taking in the 40/40/20 ratio of carb/protein/fat.

BEFORE BED I DRINK 3 Scoops of whey protein and this still happens...

I wake up every night in the middle of the night around 3-4 A.M. (I goto bed around 11:30)
Its like clockwork, I have done it since I was a kid. I wake up hungrier than SH*T - What should I eat when I wake up like this? I have a nice large protein shake but usually that does not satisfy the hunger enough to get back to sleep. The past week or so I have had 2 slices whole grain bread with peanut butter on top and the 2 scoops of whey.
Does this sound alright or do you guys think I could be losing more fat if I cut this out.
What Should I eat when I wake up like this?!

Thanks for the advise, I haven't bought the casein protein yet, but I'm due for some more so I'll go get some and try it out. I saw a new protein by MHP that combines soy/casein/whey all in one

(I'll post a new thread regarding the probolic supp)

Oh and I eat Simply Jif the one with less sugar and less sodium..

I would just try not to eat and go to bed. But then again, I never wake up in the middle of the night hungry. Even when I'm dieting.

One of my old roomates was a powerlifter. Competed in strong man competitions and scottish games. He was 6'6 335lbs and trained so hard that you couldn't eat enough calories during the day to satisfy his bodies requirements. He used to set his alarm clock twice during the night. He'd wake up at 1:30am and have 2 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Then wake up at 4am and have 2 tuna fish sandwiches. Every night. It was actually disgusting to watch. lol

Drink a couple of big glasses of water. Or add a fiber supplement to it.

I know the feeling. I wake up and am horribly hungry Want to just eat everything. Normally if I just chug 2 glasses of water I can fall asleep again. If that doesnt do it, I normally just eat broccoli and maybe a small piece of steak or chicken.

    But mostly just water

Awesome guys thanks for the posts!

I think the water idea makes me wake up again during the night because I need to pee so often due to the high intake of H20

I am adding PB to a shake tonight hopefully that works
Also I am using a new shake, PROBOLIC SR I will keep you updated on how well it prolongs my hunger.

    AS for the ice cream..
    I WISH!

Whey gets metabolized way to quickly to keep your body satisfied all night. Cassein will last you about half the night but thats still way better. I do a cassein shake w/milk before bed and sometimes when I wake up in the middle. Even though the milk has sugar lactose is broken down slowly and most of the protein in milk in also cassin. The rest is whey so it comes out to a good combo.
