    Too Much Water?!

A lot of my friends around me are telling me that I'm drinking way too much water(I drink approx. 5-7 liters). Is there anything called "too much water". If yes how much do you think should be the limit? I'm just curious to hear from you guys.

I don't think that's too much. I easily drink that much most days. What's your occupation?

Hypertremia is a condition caused by drinking too much water. Unless you are working all day in super humid conditions 1 1/2 to 2 gallons a day would be the upper end of hydration most people would require.

Believe so, I was not insinuating anything over 2 gallons will cause hypertremia just stating you can drink too much water and it can actually kill you. It's more prevalent amongst marathon runners and long distance cyclist who try and super hydrate themselves.

I know where you're coming from FG. Got a feeling his friends were throwing some "frantic" info at him.

right on - combine that with electrolyte / salts lost due to excess perspiration in their case = formula for disaster.....

Drink whenever you're thirsty. Don't see how 4-5 liters could hurt you. Just don't force it down if you're not thirsty. I usually go through at least a liter and a half minimum on leg days.

probably not 'require' since most people never come near drinking even 1 gallon of water a day.... of course we all drink 1-2 gallons a day i'm sure but 'most people' probably drink half gallon if their lucky...
