Female needs u to check out my cutting cycle!

Hi guys and gals! I am recently new to this forum so please bear with me! I am 23 years old, and looking to compete in about 5 months for figure. Here is my current cutting diet:

M1: (post workout) 1/2 cup oats 4-5 egg whites coffee with f.f creamer
M2: 4 oz chicken breast 3/4 cup rice some salsa
M3: 4oz chicken breast 2 cups broccoli some salsa
    M4: 2 scoops whey protein
M5: 4-5 oz, ground turkey salad with 2 tbsp. light ranch,1/4 cup feta, cucumber, celery
M6: 2 scoops whey before bed

Im about 150lbs, 5'8, approx. 14-15% b.f. Just started my first cycle on Var at 5 mg a day. Im drinking a gallon of water a day, but was also wondering about sugar free products because I use a lot of them. On my oats, in coffee, etc. I would love some sound advice. THANKS!!!

Adding your macro (carbs, fats and proteins) totals for the day would be a big help. Also please include your cardio schedule and if you have a neck down pic, front and back it will help in assessing what you should be doing at 20 weeks out.

M3: 4oz chicken breast 2 cups broccoli some salsachange up protein source, this isnt bad but if its pre workout youll want some startchy carbs
M4: 2 scoops whey proteinis this your PWO?? if it is it needs some carbs
M5: 4-5 oz, ground turkey salad with 2 tbsp. light ranch,1/4 cup feta, cucumber, celerystick to turkey breast ground turkey has high fat content.. unelss its 99% lean
M6: 2 scoops whey before bedthis wont do youa service. you need slow digesting protein liek casein or lean beef

The pic I attached is fairly recent. I usually log my diet into fitday, and yesterday my macros were 54% protein, 26% fats, 20% carbs at 1550 calories. I usually have one day a week were I carb load, not by a ton, but really just to mix up my macros a bit. I do 3-4 days of cardio, keeping my heart rate up for 30 min, usually with hit. Cardio is done post workout. Thanks!

That pic helps but I really need one in a two piece front and back. Please include your shoulders in the pics. It appears as though you are going to need to add some muscle as well as lose fat in the coming months. I will hold off on any diet advice to I get a better view of your condition.

HIT (anaerobic cardio), will sacrifice alot of muscle tissue.. try upping cardio to 5+ tiems a week with your hr consistent at 60-65% immedaitely after restisance training followed by immediate PWO nutrition.

this thread may help in regards to cardio

Am I missing something or do you not consume a pre-workout meal? A pre-workout meal consisting of protein/carbs is a must! Otherwise your energy will be sub-par and you will be burning up muscle. Not to take anything away from you, because you look great. Bump, for more pics as well.

Hope these can help u out a little better. I have pretty thick arms, and the back pic isnt as recent as I would like. As far as pre workout meal, I usually do my whole workout on an empty stomach. I know, I should have something in me, but a friend told me since I am on a cut, I should exaust my muscles. I also get a better burn this way.

i agree with your friend depending on how long empty stomach your talking about. im in the gym 1.5 hours after my pre workout meal including startchy complex carbs and protein with little to no fat. i would hit the gym 1.5 hours after pre workout meal to avoid digesting/fatigue issues you may have by going immediately after you just ate. after your restiance training (30-60 minuts) that will be 2-2.5 hours fasted glycogen depleted state, and on proper diet you wont have to worry a great amount about muscle cannablization IF YOU FOLLOW IMMEDIATELY WITH LOW INTENSITY FOR 20-30 MIN (as posted in the link i sent), followed by IMMEDIATE PWO nutrition. questions?

no, that sounds pretty legit. Anyone else wanna have a shot? How is my diet as far as macros go for pre contest? I am 5 1/2 months out so I have things to weed out when I get closer. I think the Var will help lean me out, cuz I am def. an easy gainer.

If I was your trainer I would advise you to get another year or so of training under your belt before stepping on stage. You have a decent base but I dont think you are carrying enough muscle at this point for Figure and trying to add muscle 20 weeks out while getting leaner is a tough act to pull off. I also think you are higher than 14-15% bodyfat,
Check this thread for a reference.

Not trying to be a downer on your plans just think you need more time. If you decide to go forward I will be happy to give some diet/training/cardio advice.

This past winter, I put on about 10 lbs, and have been training for 4 years. That suprises me I guess that, escpecially with the help from the Var you dont think I have enough prep time. Not to mention, the last couple local shows I have attended, the girls are exremely lean, not over the top muscular.

Thanks for the love!! I appreciate it...but I really just wanted to know if I have a solid diet for cutting. I have done my research, and on top of training I feel like I can be ready in time for my comp.

I agree with fire, you are going to need some more muscle mass and drop the BF quite a bit before you are competition ready.

I am not claiming to be "THE" authority on Womens Figure but my wife placed in the USA's in Vegas last year and between the two us us we have worked with well over a dozen Figure girls pre-contest. The pics you posted are not the greatest for making an assessment but I am afraid if you diet down to the level of conditioning you need to be at you are going to look really skinny. You need to bring up your shoulders, legs and back for sure.

With the advent of the Bikini Division this year it appears they are letting the Figure Girls pack on more muscle like they did a few years ago. If you decided to go forward with competing I would up your calories to around 1800-2000 the next 10 weeks with hopes of adding some lean muscle mass (dont stop doing your cardio) then spend the next 10 weeks leaning out. All subject to change on how your body reacts.

5mg is a pretty low dosage of Var are you opposed to upping it?

No not at all! This is my first cycle EVER, so I wanted to start low to see how my body was going to react for about a week, then up it to 10 mg per day.

good strategy, much better to see how you react and adjust accordingly then overload your dose

so question for fireguy......what exactly do the judges look for in a figure competitor? I hear mixed reviews, and the shows that I have been too it seems like leanness is the key, not muscle mass. So in your eyes what is the difference between bodybuilding and figure? And again, these are local shows were most of the girls are amateurs.

Figure is definately one of the most subjective competitions out there now. To me todays Figure Competitors look alot like the natural female bodybuilders from 5-10 years ago. They like a lean yet soft look. Capped shoulders, lean arms, flat stomach with abs and intercostals visible, lean back with a bit of thickness and nice taper, firm glutes with no line along the bottom of them, semi muscular quads with no striations but slight seperation, calves should have a a split in them when viewed from the back. I will post some pics all from a local show last month with examples of what I am talking about. All pics are taken from women who finished top 3 so you know it's what they are looking for.

Back and Glutes. Notice the muscle in the back and no "line of fat" visible at the bottom of the glute.

Thats amazing! None of the girls in the shows Ive attended looked anything close to this! I attatched a pic of the winner of the tall class....she is the one in the black suit if you can see it clearly. I'm not sure why, but none of the gilrs were more muscular looking than this. I think she looks rather small.

I cant really tell much from that picture, plus she is totally relaxed. There is an obvious drop in muscle and conditioning though from the show I posted pics from. I see now why you think you are ready and you should see now why I said you needed more time.

From the pics you have attached they are amatures really early on in their career of competition.

The ones fireguy posted up i dont know who the girl is or um how long she has being competing but she looks like more of a pro even though she might be an amature but it dont look like her first show at all.

So in conclusion even though it is figure, you do need to have good muscle development to look lean yet not skinny.

It really up to you if you would like to compete anyway for the experience, to experience what its like being up there which not a bad idea.

But what ever you want to do or decide to do, i suggest you aim to gain some more muscle within the next year or two.

    Goodluck and enjoy
