    Subway

I read somewhere on here that a subway meal can be done while bulking, if done right!

Can someone tell me what is right?

I only eat chicken in there, Im not a fan of high carbs - this bothers me, the amount of carbs in the bread, so, which bread is the best?

Does toasted or not make any difference?

I am guessing its best to have no sauces...

Anyway you look at it, it is all processed. I have had their roasted chicken on brown with lots of veggies, no sauces or salt added. But this was when I was stuck and had to get something fast it is probably the best of the worst. I personally would not make Subway part of your bulking plan.

When bulking you can eat just about anything. Just be sure to include in your daily macros.

I would stay away from the deli meats and stick with the roasted chicken breast.

I think jammy wrote a post about fast food that is still good for you where he orders an oven roasted chicken breast double the meat.

Also why are you not a fan of high carbs?

    880mg soduim holy crap!!

Im not a fan of high carbs because carbs that do not get used, store as fat, so I try to keep carbs at a low ish level (200g par day).

Hmmm I thought there may of been more protein than that :S

Im trying to find more things to eat, that involve chicken.

I dont want to create a whole new thread so...

What about tortilla wraps? I have an idea to use a whole chicken breast (which I read is about 35g protein?), slice it up into chunks, put some lettuce and tomato in it, and put a tortilla wrap around it (unless the wrap would be bad for me??)

    *edit*

The idea is to buy a weeks worth of chicken breasts, and cook them all up, and make 14 or so of these wraps, so I can eat 2 per day. Good idea?

not at all, make sure the wrap is whole wheat and you're fine

Well, ive already bulked, im not trying to get as big as possible anymore, I am currently trying to get ****** and add definition, so I am trying to be more careful with my carbs, but up the protein intake.

Sorry, your right, to bulk you do need a good amount of carbs, I should of explained better.

    http://www.subway.co.uk/menu/subs/li...en-breast.aspx

    6 inch chicken breast:

    Serving Size (g) 240

    Energy (kj) 1209

    Energy (kcal) 298

    Protein (g) 28

    Carbohydrate (g) 40

    of which sugars (g) 2.5

    Fat (g) 4.8

    of which saturates (g) 1.6

    Fibre (g) 4.0

    Sodium (g 1.1

    Salt Equivalents(g) 2.6

Ok, so as im trying to bulk, but eat alot of protein, I could eat a foot long, and it would look like this....

    Cals: 596
Carbs: 80g (which would use up almost HALF of my daily limit!
Protein: 56g (but if I double the meat as suggested, this would then be 112g!!!)
Fat: 9.6g (which is ok, as my daily limit is 60g)

And as suggested I would use the whole wheat bread.

    I never have it toasted.

Sound good for bulking?.....that may be alot for one sitting, so I could easily cut it in half and eat the other half later in the day.....

Hmm quick question, if I add something like chilli sauce to that subway, is it going to make it a cheat meal or is it sitll good?

How much effect will adding sauce have? Or should I just leave it out?

I don't know the nutritional facts of that sauce but i know a lot of condiments contain a bunch of sodium.

I think your starting to take the whole dieting thing a bit to serious. A squirt of sauce isn't going to ruin your diet.

Also why not just go buy groceries and make your own sandwiches and then you know whats in them.

if your shooting for 200 grams of carbs a day eating one sandwich that contains 50g is a good number. That means you could have another 3 pro/carb meals which include 50 g of carbs, then another two meals that are pro/fat for a total of 6 meals.

Good point, so Im thinking, I should get that subway every day, but split the foot long, into two halfs, so kinda making it two meals (each 6 inch has 40g of carbs in it), with that I can add some other things with it, I eat alot so thats not a problem, my actual problem is cutting down LOL

At the moment I dont go to places like subway, im just after a change and new ideas, and I read here that subway is good for bulking if done right....im just after the protein out of it to be honest, and with my figures, I can get 112g of protein out of a foot long (doubling the meat).

    haha!

Seriously, its ALL about diet! Even if your on juice, its all about diet!

Thing is, is I walk past subway every day on the way to work, and I wanted to know if its good or bad for my training, I dont want to add fat, just want a quick source of protein.

Also regarding sauce, its not just a squirt, they go to town all over the whole footlong, if its chilli sauce, there might be fat in there, or salt, sodium etc.

I know what you mean. You say a little of a condiment and they put a ton.
