well, i agree with eat.. but at the same time, the sugar content is so low that phate has been thumbs up about it...

it's a slow digesting food, so the insulin spike isn't anywhere close to where u would put it eat..

i believe the cottage cheese i was eatin was 3g sugar per 1/4th cup. so 1/2 cup would be 6g sugar and that would be enough for me to stay away from

"Use anything BUT cottage cheese. Why people are so obsessed with cottage cheese is beyond me. Have steak, releases slower than cottage cheese thats for sure and the quality of protein is higher. Combine with some good oils and you are set. No need to have a dairy product before bed with galactose in them. I dont see the point at all in ever having milk or cottage cheese before bed. Well I would personally never have either at any time at all but before bed especially with the sugars."

Different things work for different people.......obviously there is natural genetics that are commonly associated with on this site in relation to food, but some things work for people and some do not.

Like I know you prefer to eat Whole wheat bread a bunch throughout the day, perosnally if I ate bread at more than one meal my stomach would never go down over a long process of cardio......so to each his own i guess you can say........

I wouldn't worry about the 6g of sugar that comes with 1/2 cup of cottage cheese. I guess it depends on how low you want to cut to...I have down to 8% BF while still consuming 1/2 ff cottage cheese everynight before bed. Like some have said, lean steak would be preferred but most (me included) can't afford this luxury every night. And for those that said just use casein protein shake instead, do you really think that liquid casein is going to breakdown slower than cottage cheese (a somewhat solid). This is why efa's are so important with your before bed meal. Since I can't afford steak this is my before bed meal:
    1/2 cup ff cottage cheese
    1 scoop ON casein
    3/4 cup water
    1-2 tbl sp natural pb
I mix all of this along with a few cubes of ice in a blender and toss it down the hatch...works for me but I agree lean steak would be better.

Good man. There are just much better sources than dairy while cutting. Can you cut on dairy? Well sure, you can also cut eating snickers bars.

The point is that it is not optimal. I give OPTIMAL advice, not what could work. You want to cut in the best way possible and get the leanest you can than you will be cutting out cottage cheese at some point and thats a guarantee.

Like I stated before and was quoted, the amateur bodybuilding community has some huge obsession with cottage cheese. Someone realized sometime that hey its dairy so there is casein in it...yahoo it must digest slow and we should use it before bed. Why wouldn't you just have a regular meat source which has greater thermogenesis which is key when cutting, tastes better to most people, doesnt have the sugar/carbohydrate component associated with it, and digests just as slowly if not more so.
