    question on sugar

Im a firm believer that sugar is our enemy. But how much are we talking here? 10g/day? 50g/day? If I were to have a weakness its chocolate. I know its a big no no, but every now and then I need a little something so I a sml sugar free choc. pudding cup. Any other suggestion to cure my sweet tooth? It has to be some sort of choc...

A piece of dark chocolate, highest percent cocoa you can find.
Its actually good for you (health wise).

Sorry it took me so long to respond.

I've actually seen up to 90% cocoa. The higher you go, the more bitter the taste gets though. Im really not a fan of dark chocolate, but if you like it and/or it satisfies your chocolate sweet tooth, you can't go wrong with a little bit a day.

I think a lot of things are done to extreme.... and unless bodybuilding is your profession I do not think it is necessary to avoid all sugars all the time. For instance I've just recently developed a liking to cottage cheese. By itself its gross but spice it up with some green onion, paprika, cayenne pepper, black pepper... it's awesome. Half a cup has around 6-7g of sugar. Is that going to stop me from enjoying it? It also has 15g of slow digesting protein. So now I have 1/2 cup to a cup each day. I also love fresh pineapple juice so I'll have a cup of that every so often. Does the extra sugar hurt my progress? I doubt it. I'm still burning body fat off like a furnace.

Bottom line if you have a weakness for chocolate - have it. Every once in awhile and preferably when your glycogen stores are depleted (morning or PWO). Ultimately when you train to build muscle mass your body becomes a glucose burning furnace. If you were a fat couch potato and sitting on your butt it's a different story. But for a bodybuilder, I do not think some sugar throughout the day is a bad thing

thanks, Polska! Ive learned to have splenda instead of sugar in my coffee a long time ago. If I need to have that sip of soda or iced tea I have diet. I do not even have any fruit, except for that occasional banana pwo. So for natural sugars I really do not have any at all. Lately when I have that sweet tooth Ill have a few T-spoons of natty pb or grab a sugar free choc. pudding. I never counted exactly how many g of sugar I consume everyday but I know that is not a lot. But will 10-15g of sugar/day keep me from dropping 5-10 lbs of fat??? Right now Im 38, 5'7 187-190lbs..

If your training is on point, your macros allow for it, and you have a negative caloric balance at the end of the day then you will not have any problems losing that 10lbs of fat.
