try splenda!
I have but realistically its nothing like sugar when it comes to certain things.
I have it in my coffee which i love (i wish they had fat free coffee mate in australia
But theres some things that sugar just cant be substituted for.
Anyway it has a GI of 50 so would this be ok to have while dieting?
Nope, if you're cutting, I'd say sugar is a very bad choice!
I don't even have sugar when I'm bulking!
Really depends on how serious you are.
well first thing if you want to waste some of your calorie intake on sugar to put in your coffee go ahead we cannot stop you
is it a good idea defently not, why not use a sugarfree item and save those calories for one of your meals so you can be fuller for longer and to get through the day in a smart way..
i just dont see logic behind that..
ill throw in a low GI fruit like an apple when bulking, but im very strict with my cutting routine.
No matter what the GI rating, sugar is SUGAR.
Whether or not you can include it, or if you should do so, is entirely dependent upon what your nutritional approach is. W/out knowing that, it's a rather open-ended inquiry.
The safe bet/answer is no, sugar is SUGAR and sugar does nothing for a physique. Hope that helps......

Collar - I use equal/splenda in my coffee - i didn't state that clearly.
We don't consume sugar in our diets because of the insulin spike it gives. Correct me if that's wrong.
The sugar i mentioned in the op is of low gi (50) (refined white sugar being 65). This would make it similar/same as a banana or oats which nearly every person on this board eats everyday.
With that being said why doesn't a low gi sugar have a place in our carbohydrate allowance where oats and bananas do?
p.s. i do not consume ANY high GI food. The last thing i got rid of was honey because of the insulin spike that has no place in a diet. breakfast and PWO debated.

oh dont get me wrong if you want to have bananas, or some simple sugars go ahead.
but personally when im cutting there is no simple sugars at all
i dont have bananas, i keep them on the complex carbs with high fibre food reason is well i am cutting i want food that will last much longer in my body.
Specially when i know im limited with my food and i may get hungry.
Which is the most likely case when cutting.
This is the reason why i keep away from simple carbs
second for me i dont know about you or others but when i have sugar or simple carbs while dieting i dont get as hard and i seem to hold a lot more water and just overall i dont look as r1pped as i would like to get.
but thats just me.
you experiment and see what works best for you, dont let my comments push you away from what you think may work for you.
So while cutting you wouldn't have a banana PWO? what do you have? just out of interest.
But thats not what the topic is about. I think i may need a bit of educating on this subject but what has thrown me off is the GI of the sugar mention in my op.
If its the same GI as oats does this mean we can all go throwing the stuff on top of our oats for flavor? or am i missing something.
oh no no
dont let it confuse you
ok lets break it down
a lot of guys on here for pwo they use either things like dextrose/waxy maise/ or fruits.
and in some cases like myself i use whole foods which are lower in gi.
does that make it right or wrong defently not it just works fine for me.
But ofcourse if you put in your pwo higher gi carbs like you said bananas/fruits or just really simple sugars.
And you feel it works great for you, thats really great.
It just im of the opinion of having whole foods for my pwo just so i feel fuller for a lot longer, cause i am cutting and am limited for food.
If you want to throw it on your oats for flavor you go ahead, but me personaly i dont do that sort of thing.
My pwo would go something like
whey/oats/cinnamon
is the cinnamon just for taste?
ok i think i understand. Theres a difference between high gi and low gi and simple and complex carbs.
oats - complex carb low gi
logicane sugar - simple carb low gi
if this is the case what causes an insulin spike high gi or a simple carb?
double post
high gi, which majority of it is simple carbs.
for me 50 on gi rating is little high which it doesnt classify but for me its on higher end..
high gi spike insulin, which most are simple carbs
and simple carbs are more likely not to be high in fibre, not always the case but majority of time.
meaning wont keep sustained energy or fullness for very long.
so only (especially while cutting) low gi complex carbs.
which excludes all forms of sugar
yes...
Thanks everyone
