    Digestive Enzymes

I was wondering how do you know if digestive enzymes would be beneficial to one or not. I have some gas in the last afternoon and nights most nights. I contribute it too all the fiber I eat from oatmeal and beans, but I am begining to think it might be a digestive issue. Any way to tell? Is the gas and bloating that bad that I need the enzymes to see a difference? What is the best type to take? I noticed there is a wide variety availible and they range in price from $4 to over $15 for about a 10 day supply.

They would be beneficial to almost all people with a really high protein/meat based diet.

The type will depend on any individual problems or needs you may have. For example if you know you have low stomach acid than use one with HCl in it.

I use betain hydrochloride w/ pepsin myself.

Some people just go with papain or pepsin alone or go with a blend.

I think the addition of any of them would be beneficial. Many of the protein digesting enzymes are zymogens are need to be cleaved to be activated, this can be done afew ways, but may be triggered by the addition of other active ezymes, therefore adding enzymes not only helps in itself but can also help to activate more of your own natural enzmes.

Thank you for clearing up the debate on blend vs straight digestive enzymes.

Is there a way to get my stomach levels tested to see if I do need any of these and which ones?
