I hear Vodka is ok for carbs but not 100% sure on that.

Ultra and Miller light are low on carbs. So if you keep it a 6 pack it isnt that bad.

yeast is a carb... if im not mistaken, it's only used in beer.. i'd say the hard alcohol is the safer bet.. keep it to a minimum though eat..

i have a cool little book that has info on all things you consume, has the calories/carbs/fat etc.. your standard bud beer has 11 carbs and 145 calories, but who drinks just 1 right? 6 pack= 66 carbs and 870 cal. Vodka on the other hand as all other hard liquor are all about the same 1 oz contains 0 carbs and 65 calories. Calories increase as the proofs get higher...if your a real lush and drink a 700 ml bottle (like i have done alot in my youth) that is a whopping 1620 cal. so I guess you can have a "liquor belly" too
    hope that helps

No and yes. The liver can make ketones out of alcohol, so technically, when you drink you'll continue to produce ketones and so will remain in ketosis. The problem is ... alcohol converts more easily to ketones than fatty acids, so your liver will use the alchol first, in preference to fat. Thus, when you drink, basically your FAT burning is put on hold until all the alcohol is out of your system.

This rapid breakdown of alcohol into ketones and acetaldehyde (the intoxicating by-product) ... tends to put low carbers at risk for quicker intoxication ... especially if no other food is consumed to slow absorption.
so many conflicting view points ont the issue.

    hope this helps

i have been TOLD by others on keto that they get intoxicated much quicker. they don't give reason for this but they do swear it so please be careful. the explination above is interesting. usually they consume vodka or bacardio.
    cheers

also, if on ckd, some will drink on carb days. i don't agree because of the dehydration (i think replenishment and water help each other) but the option's out there.

alcohol has a couple effects on ketosis, once you are in ketosis is can deepen the state of ketosis but you should be careful with this as too much alcohol can cause an over production of ketones(which are acidic) and cause ketoacidosis

alcohol also inhibits the liver's rate of processing free fatty acids so this should be taken into account as well

remember that alcohol has 7cal/g, it's very calorie dense and the more concentrated the alcohol the more calories and ketones will be produced when you drink it

and yes, it causes you to get drunk faster when in ketosis as your body can only buffer so much alcohol and with the presence of ketones you are already slightly acidic

you really aren't, the only people that are are alcoholics and type 1 diabetics due to their lack of insulin

doesn't matter, the alcohol itself breaks down into ketones

yea, in pre-hospital care one of our main worries is diabetic ketoacidosis... not a good thing to put your body through...

good thing i hate keto diets (though im thinking about getting back on one just to shock the body)...

it may take you up to three weeks to get to deep ketosis unless you accelerate your entrance into it
