    Stomach Spasms

Did you know that rapid weight loss can cause stomach spasms??? Thats what my Dr. told me today. He also said a bad diet is a factor as well. he also perscribed an anti spasmotic. i really would prefer not taking it if that is at all possible or very little if i can find an alternate means.

Ive been having terrible pain in my stomach and nasea day and night, after coming off the 4month slimfast diet i was on. i will NEVER do that again.

food and liquid make the pain worse. so as you can immagin, i am having trouble eating and drinking. i have to to get well so i am eating and drinking.

for the time being my Dr. has perscribed that i eat icecream (chocolate) and pudding (also chocolate). he says that it will help calm my stomach and get me some nutrients.

Now dont get me wrong... this Dr. is awsome, but i am always one to question what im told (good or bad). so here is the question:
Does anyone know of better foods/healthier that help calm the stomach that arent so bad for you???

my diet atm consists of :
2 large bowls of icecream a day... that helps some with the pain while im eating it.
oatmeal - i try to eat it twice a day, but i get it in atleast once a day, that hurts.
then in the evening im trying to get some kind of protein. have eaten a salad with grilled chicken, cheese and crutons, no dressing for a few days- and that really hurts, last night it was some sliced roast beef and it did the same to my stomach.

i know this diet isnt much better than the slimfast diet, but i just dont know how to eat food anymore without it causing me double-over pain. i hate taking the percoset... it only helps the pain and doesnt do anything good for my system (Dr. said to stop the percoset, so that is done).

i want to get well so i can start going back to the gym and go back to a normal life.

i think you all here know diet better than my primary care Dr., so any help here would really be appreciated. and i DO understand that you can only make recommendations here, and that your not Dr.'s (well some of you might be or dieticians), but in any event... Please Help.

I have to go with the doc on this one, I think the most important thing is to get some nutrients in until this problem resolves. You may ask him if you can add in some healthy fats such as fish oils, olive oils ect. Like a couple teaspoons in with your meal. Thats a couple hundred calories in itself, and fats tend to help with spasms depending on the cause. I am not a MD and am not qualified to make recommendations against that of your doctor. I would simple suggest you ask about other alternatives to your dietary intake and see what he says for each.
