    Veggies

When we talk about veggies.... What are the best types to consume. Greens I have always heard were good.... But more specifically?

you can make them tolerable easily, for example, make a tomato sauce with zero cal ketchup, lots of spinach, mushrooms, etc.., and then add your meat, portion it out and you have a great meal

or make a salad with olive oil and balsalmic vinegar dressing with the meat in it

there are some veggies that arn't as good for you.. ie corn..

carrots havve been said to cause an insulin spike due to high GI levels in the GI index.. in retrospect, the GL of carrots are very low which leaves one a little puzzled...

my advice, eat it only in moderation...

then prep the chicken(put in zip bags with the desires amount), take an empty bottle and make some olive oil dressing or buy it, then just put salad in a container the day of and put the dressing on before you eat it, as long as you keep it in a cooler it'll be fine, or just throw a freezer bag in the container with it

you can also make egg muffins like this, i thought of doing this for my dad since he's so busy, just make a mixture with egg whites, egg yolks, veggies, some fat free cheese if you like

then portion it into muffin cups, back at 350 for 20 minutes or so(depending on oven), and now you have protein egg muffins that have been cooked and are great IMO

    Love my vegtables.

Spinach (with added garlic is nice)
    Brocoli
    Tomatoes
    Carrots
    Green beans

are what I tend to consume.

I am horrible at eating my veggies. I normally snack on carrots or brocoli.

That's correct, the GL of carrots is very low. It is a negative calorie vegetable... you lose more calories trying to digest it than you do from actually eating it.

As for the insulin spike caused by carrots -- that only applies to cooked carrots. This is because cooked carrots are much easier to digest since the heat breaks down the fibre in the carrots. When carrots are mushy and easy to digest, they are no longer negative calorie veggies. That may explain the insulin spike.

Mushrooms are not veggies. They're fungi. Gross.

if you do not like eating veggies try peas for your carbs, they are much more carb enriched.

There are more phytonutrients available from slightly steamed broccoli than raw. So, I usually steam mine + a little I can't believe it's not butter spray. GTG.
