    Deli meat vs. full breast

Is there a difference between eating 8 oz. of deli meat than eating say, an 8 oz. chicken breast? (or deli roast beef to ground beef/steak etc...) Deli meat is just so easy to stuff down the gullet!

lots of sodium and the meat might be processed....

dont get me wrong, we're on the same page... i used to eat deli meat twice a day.. easy fix, but more expensive and prob not as healthy for you...

though i still love to get my hands on some london broil for dinner from the deli department once in a while when i cant afford to buy it from the meat section..

As far as protein levels and its use on a bulk phase, it's good to go though? I'm not to concerned over sodium as salt is very limited in my diet. Is processed meat really bad or is it just added junk you don't need?

They did an episode of Modern Marvels (History Channel) on deli meat. I was actually quite surprised at how little processing/chemicals went into some of the products they showed.

I'm sure you right though, it varies from company to company.

You're fine, just be aware of the fat content of some of the meats. ALL the meat you eat is most likely processed to some degree, unless you're purchasing free range proteins from a health market.

That, and the expense. I can't afford 2lbs of chicken from the deli a day.

Just make sure you get the lowest fat and lowest sodium cuts that you can find. A lot of deli cut meats are brimming with sodium. Otherwise go for it

Thanks for the advise so far guys. I know that most people prefer chicken to turkey. Is there some reason for that? I can get turkey deli meat (not the pre-packaged stuff) for 2.99 a pound. Is the protein content less?

yea, turkey tends to run just a tad bit less then chicken in protien value, but that doesn't mean you should ignore it.. variation is key to dieting success..

2.99lb is cheap.. i pay double...

if you can stomach it, go low sodium turkey..
