    Low carb depression?

So i have been on a low carb diet for a few months now (~75g ED). I look great, but couldn't feel worse. Bending over to tie my shoes or going up a flight of stairs exhausts me.

This morning i had two cups of outmeal cause i just couldn't take it anymore. Holy crap do i feel good. i have been bouncing around like a chick before prom. I am so happy... I had no idea how much carbs effected my moods...

75g carbs a day is pretty low.

    were you having regular re-feeds?

I have been on low carbs since 3 weeks now... It feels very shitty but I feel my body change .. i'm bouncing between 22-24% bf now (I cycle carbs low/high) but 3 weeks ago I measured at 27 and were bouncing between 27-29..

It makes me happy to eat a banana or every time I eat one peace of black bread in the morning my days goes veeery goood...

Whenever I drop carbs there seems to be about a 3-4 adjustment period where my body feels pretty lethargic then I adapt and am ok but have never stayed down for 3 months at a time as you are. Is there a reason you are keeping them so low for such an extended period of time?

No mostly just curiosity as to how lean my body could get. I am going to up the carbs going forward. What would you all recommend for someone that gains weight pretty easily? 100g? 150g? I don’t really want to gain any more mass, just to stay close to the weight i am currently.

As for the re-feeds, no i am very strict and do not have cheat meals or mistakes often

    I'll default to Fireguy,

But re-feeds in my book are not cheats. They don't have to be all out pig out days on ice cream and pizza, but simply higher carb days that serve to restart metabolism, leptin, etc.

Also a side note, I found that I do not do well with cold water now either! ha ha. i went in the ocean the other day and when i got out people said i looked dead, like they were legitimately worried. i felt fine, but I guess I was just too lean to deal with the cold...crazy.

That is very well stated, big difference between the two.

As far as how many carbs you need for maintenance. Best thing to do is run them at a certain level and see how your body reacts. You can always bump them up more and add cardio to help as well.

yeah good point. i will try around 100g and see how i do. i think i have been too low for the last few months. after all if i am not competing I would rather be happy with decent abs then depressed with great abs...that might change come next summer, ha
