Little confused on how to gain...

    Allright lil about me...

I'm 5'8, 153pds with 16% body fat. I am trying to get to 190 ASAP for football. I've been training for the last 3 yrs, so I know how to train. I take the proper supplements, but my diet is the only thing I'm confused about... seems it takes forever for me to gain weight.

I know I need alot of calories, but are all colories the same? For instance, would a Big Mac be fine, or some tuna, whole grain, and almonds do it? What I'm saying is I know I need calories, but I eat very healthy. Tuna instead of Big Mac, granola bar instead of bag of Lay's (which has more calories).

Should I just be eating the non-healthier items to get me the needed calories??

First off before i can help i need to know one thing. Is your goal to gain weight by any means necessary or is your goal to drop some bodyfat in the process? We can get you "fat" but it will take harder work to get 190 @9% opposed to 190 @30%? All about what you want?

Yes there also is a huge difference in food calories

    Object A=500 calories
    Object B=500 CALORIES

Object A is broken down with low protein high sugar high bad fats=500 cals

Object B is broken down with High protein low to no sugar and good fats=500 cals

    Does this make sense?

If I stay at or around 16% body fat that will be good.

And I kind of understand what you are saying about the different calories, can you give a comparison on 2 different meals?

If you are wanting to go from 153 to 190 and maintain 16% bf that means you are going to need to gain 31lbs of muscle. Hate to be the bearer of bad news but that's not happening anytime soon. That is a great 5-6 YEAR goal at best with natural training.

I should ask your age, if you are going through puberty you can add muscle much quicker than someone older.
