the basic idea is to replace carbs with fat for a source of energy
so fat no longer gets stored and it gets used. Read that thread energizer bunny linked,

Post like this always worry me! They insinuate a "Quick fix" and the Keto diet is not a quick fix. Its still requires work, discipline, and a competent user....TOP

Its a certain amount of days of little to no carbs followed by a 1 to 2 day period of carb loading. The purpose is to get into a state called ketosis where your body is using mainly body fat as energy. The reason for a reload is to refill your muscles of lost glycogen in and for extra energy. Also having a long term low carb diet without carbing up every so often can slow your metabloism so by adding in those carb days you are actually tricking your body and making it speed up

If you're a wrestler, stay away from Keto.
