Not sure exactly what her weight is in Lbs but a good starting point for most women looking to lose weight is 1400 cals, all meals pro/fat except for breakfast where you add carbs. workout with Weights 3 times a week followed bye cardio, then 3-4 days cardio

I trained a lot of vegans and they are very difficult.. most dont really know what they can or cannot eat.. most I have also noticed are very heavy.. after breaking it down.. they eat a lot of fried crap.. like fries and onion rings .. lots of greasy carbs... all in the effort to not eat meat.. sad so many tryin for something they want to do but do not understand...
I would suggest running through a list of foods and see what she will eat and what she will not eat...
If the goal of vegan was to be healthy then she should understand what a healthy diet should be ... what and how we eat..
and then compare that to what she can do with the foods she can consume ..
good luck pal

I am discussing some home remedies here.I hope these remedies will help you.Cabbage is a negative calorie food that helps in burning body fat. You can take cabbage as a salad or added to other food. Try to replace one meal with a cabbage meal.
Green tea is one of the popular home remedies for weight loss. Drink three cups of green tea to deal with the extra weight. It is an ultimate fat burner.
Eat two red tomatoes every morning in breakfast for a few months. This will help in restricting calorie intake.
Prepare a mixture of 1/4 teaspoon powdered black pepper, 3 teaspoon lime juice, and 1 teaspoon honey in 1 cup water. Drinking this mixture for 3-4 months to loss weight.

Hey check out the medication called Xenical or Orlistat. Orlistat is combined with a reduced-calorie diet to promote weight loss. Orlistat also may be used to prevent weight gain after weight has been lost. Candidates for treatment with orlistat are patients who are obese with a body mass index (a measure of obesity) of more than 30 kg/m2. Candidates also include patients with a body mass index of between 27 and 30 kg/m2 if other risk factors for arteriosclerosis are present such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and elevated blood cholesterol or triglycerides. Based on several scientific studies, the average weight loss that is achieved when orlistat is taken as recommended for six months to one year is 12.4 to 13.4 pounds.

Okay. No offense to you or your girlfriend but I hate these type of vegetarians. She is killing little itty bitty baby chickens which is animal meat(eggs).
Let me guess, her excuse is that they were already dead and were never going to be born therefore she wasn't taking a baby chickens life, correct?
I would post something for a vegetarian but I truly think it is a lost cause until they decide to eat meat.
You need to tell her it is not MORALLY WRONG nor is it UNHEALTHY. So she is wrong on every level.
Our bodies were meant to consume meat. It is proven over and over again by scientists through our digestive system and teeth structure.(Its also kind of like saying that won't drink water because of all the micro organisms that are alive in it. At the end of the day all living organisms want to live, therefore by her eating vegetables she is taking the life of an organism that wants to and is trying to survive) Secondly, it is definitely not healthier on a nutrition basis.
It is much much healthier to eat lean protein and watch caloric intake.

Oh and one more thing, the reason why it is hard for her to lose weight and a lot of vegetarians is because do to their lack of protein they need to increase their fats and carbs just to get an adequate amount of protein.
If she wants to lose weight, the best and easiest way is to have her eat meat. Also she will be much healthier.
A TON of vegetarians are also malnourished. Most people who have malnutrition will also not have any symptoms so they think they are fine. But they are not, they are doing damage to their body.
And one of the MAIN reasons is probably because of what I am about to tell you. About 95% of the vegetarians I talk to say no I am getting enough protein through other sources, but what they do not realize is that all proteins are NOT CREATED EQUAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For instance, if they took in their daily value of protein through a vegetable source most would say YEAH YEAH I got all my protein!! But in actuality, they didn't. WHY? Well because any protein that comes from something other then animal meat is called an "INCOMPLETE PROTEIN". An "INCOMPLETE PROTEIN" means that it is missing one of more of the essential amino acids. Animal meat on the other hand is called a "COMPLETE PROTEIN" which means it has all the essential amino acids.
Therefore, someone who consumed their daily intake of protein ONLY through vegetable proteins would STILL be malnourished!!!!!
JUST A HEADS UP, TELL YOUR GIRLFRIEND ABOUT THIS BECAUSE MOST LIKELY SHE DOES NOT KNOW THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !

I have to agree with pretty much everything Cal said in both posts. I don't know that we were MEANT to eat meat, it's been proven that early man was a plant eater/gatherer before a hunter (berries, etc) - but we've most certainly adapted to eat meat.
I'm a HUGE animal lover, and I struggle with the morality of all the meat I eat - and especially the DOZENS of egg yolks i'm throwing out all the time. It makes me feel awful. However, I make sure I eat everything I buy (again, I can't help the yolk thing - not getting fat because I feel bad for chickens), no meat ever goes to waste, and most importantly I have respect for the animal that lost its life so I could be nourished. Nothing else 'feels bad' in the animal kingdom - it's the food chain and as natural as things can be. It's more about the mass production and DISGUSTING amount of waste I see, particularly in this country (US).
Sorry I derailed your thread OP. Cal touched on something I feel strongly about, and I felt compelled to post.

I tried a vegetarian diet with mostly raw veggies and fruit a few years back and I didn't see the drastic weight loss I thought I would. My body cannot tolerate all the fiber..and ended up in the hospital. I was miserable.
I now eat a balanced diet, and feel so much better and stronger and I weigh less. It is a beautiful thing!

I was a vegetarian for many years. I lost weight and got a lot of protein from the meat substitutes...veggie dogs, burgers, ready made vegetarian dishes with compete protein combos like beens and rice.
It was tough to do, and impossible when I ate anywhere but home.
I understand if she doesn't eat meat, but it is going to take some research if she wants to be healthy.
...and she isn't a vegetarian if she eats fish.
