If you KNOW you are going to cheat.....

Say you know you are going to let loose during the Super Bowl or some other upcoming event that will include such things as pizza and alcohol, how do you approach it to minimize damage?

Do you do extra cardio before or after? Starve yourself before going whole hog? Starve yourself the next day?

Of course I am not going to die if the train comes off the tracks for one day but I would like to know how to minimize my damages should I decide to do this.

Are you 12 weeks or less out from a competition? If the answer is "no" dont worry about it.

Thanks Fireguy. I really respect your opinions given what you have done for yourself. I am amazed and hope to just achieve a fraction of what you have done.

I guess my question is more about my mind set. If I indulge i feel i have to "punish" myself in some way to make up for it.

Thanks for the kind words, no sense alienating yourself from friends or missing out on some Super Bowl fun. Like N2B said, it's not gonna kill you especially if you are staying strict the rest of the week. This is one of the aspects about competing I really enjoy, there is an actual "off-season" when I dont have to worry about having a cheat day now and then.

    yep^^^

another trick that might work(assuming you aren't going to use an appetite suppressant) is to take some metamucil before you go over, in fact take a good hefty amount, this will expand up to 50x it's weight in water(so drink lots of water afterwards) and cause your stomach to think it's full

also, change your perspective, instead of thinking of food when you think of the super bowl, think about having fun with friends instead, the food is just there as a bonus but it shouldn't be your main focus

We are heading to some friends and bringing some Ahi Tuna to sear on the grill. Actually looking forward to indulging in that 10x more than I would some pizza. Then again I am weird that way,,

I do nothing, like fireguy said unless you're 12 weeks out or something, thinking about this stuff is OCD to the nth degree..
