    PWO shake with oats?

I've seen a few people saying that they mix oats with their PWO whey shake. I'd like to try this, but am unclear about how to do it and whey powder is too expensive to 'experiment' with.

Do you use the oats whole, or do you grind them up to a powder in a blender? If you leave them whole, do you add them to the shake cooked or dry? Do you just mix together oats and powder, add water and that's it?

i add everything to the blender and just blend the oatmeal(dry) in with everything else, adds a very nice earthy tone to the shake

Gotcha, thanks! I can't do the wet-mix part in the blender because I take my shake on the road right after the gym. SO - do you think it would be ok to blend/grind down the oats to a powder, throw into my shaker with the protein powder, then just add skim milk and shake vigerously? Or do you think this would only be good if everything was blended?

grind your oats in a coffee grinder to get close to a powder, add your whey, mix with either skim or h2o right in your shaker and youre good to go!!

I just had it for the 1st time, pretty tasty! I added 2 packets of splenda to sweeten it up, definitely a good idea.

I don't blend mine, I tried it and it screwed them up and made it hard to drink, for me at least.

I just throw them in there straight from the box. They get all mushy in the water and go down a treat.

Most weight gainers dont use sugar anymore, they use high GI carbs, just buy one of those. MOst have 40-50g protein and 75-80g of carbs

you mean like maltodextrine and dextrose? the weight gainer from GNC my friend has is straight 120g of maltodextrine and dextrose with 50g of protein per serving

personally if you want a weight gainer i would suggest just making it yourself

Optimum Nutrition actually has Whey and Oats so they did the work for you already mixed in the can. Not sure about the price differential of just doing it yourself though.

I meant to type low GI. I know Monster mass Uses Waxymaize, Up your mass has no sugar or dex and uses oats cytogainer has no sugar or dex and uses oats. Most of the big name brands realized people dont want sugar and use oats or some type of quality carb
