    Dextrose or Malto-Dex mix?

What is better for a PWO shake?

    50% whey + 50% dextrose -or- 50% whey + 25% dextrose + 25% maltodextrin

    why?

3 minutes! It takes me FOREVER to eat a cup of oats. Even if I make it watery so that its not so pastey.

Also, why would you eat oats for PWO? You need simple sugars to spike insulin and push the protein into your depleted muscles!

    My PWO shake:

    5 tbsp honey
    2 scoops whey
    1.5 cups of water

Okay, well, technically I could ask you the same thing here. Its more or less what makes sense. To me, it made sense. I respect your opinion though.

thats cool---i have tried it both ways---and the complex carbs pwo worked 10 times better for me--when cutting---never have really bulked---it can take 1-2 days to replenish glycogen stores after a workout---so i dont see the point in fast carbs

Im very cautious after a workout about preserving the muscle I already have. Since I'm naturally lean, I know that if simple sugars aren't added soon, my body can only really turn to muscle for replenishment.

    Catabolism...scary sh*t right?

real food is better, but why not try no carbs at all once in a while and see how you react?

I just mix the oats in with my shake like I would any simple carb as he said. Some are left at the bottom of my shaker and I just eat them with a plastic utensil (I always keep some in my glove-box). It's delicious.

I think catabolism is so over-blown among bodybuilders - the biggest/best-physique dudes i know do daily cardio and don't put too much stock into it. I can name several who regularly post here.
