    Hey guys.. just a quick question
    Iam using Evolve Mass-fx Weight gainer protein.. Per serving it containes 50g pro and 60g carbs?? My quesion is, the carbs in mass gainers are they complex carbs like oats or are they bad carbs??
    Currently in the morn ing for breakfast iam having a serving of this with a cup of oats and a bannana... Should i leave the oats in there, or is this too much carbs?
    Currently on a bulk.

    Mass gainers are garbage and should not be used for meal replacement... whole foods all the way... depending on the product you might get away with using it during your workout.... but as far as the carbohydrate question it depends on the product.. check the back look at the ingredients... how many grams of sugar vs total carbs are there and are there things like maltodextrin in it?... Also do alot more reading about structuring a diet... we have a ton of stickies and good threads here... good luck

    A lot of 'weight gainers' use maltodextrin as the primary carb source.

    On the lable it will state 60g of carbs, of which sugar 3g for example.

    This would leave you to believe that maltodextrin is not a simple carb.

    This is true, however maltodextrin is as close to a simple carb as possible, the reason it is not classed as a 'Complexed carb' is due to a double bond or somthing??

    So really out of 60g carbs most, if not all of those carbs are crappy fillers that make the shake sweet and only good PWO.

    For a good gainer shake try blending this beauty up this;

    250g Lowfat cottage cheese (blend with vanilla escence untill smooth)
    .5 cup oats (blended/ultra fine)
    10-15g Natty Peanut Butter

    They're wastes of money. If you want a shake for a normal meal (though steer clear of doing this for most of your meals) there's plenty of other options. Get a blender. You can do egg or casein protein (stay away from whey any other time besides pre and post wo), whole eggs, blueberries, oranje juice, oats, milk, waxy maize (only for those 5% of the pop who need this to gain weight, not recommended for almost everyone) etc.

    Weightgainers use the worst quality protein with the worst quality carbs, they just sugarcoat so they can make misleading claims on their covers. Much easier and far more healthy to make your own mate.
