Starting a cycle and a strict diet in 2 weeks, dont want to look radiculous and just drink water while everyone eats :)

If you're starting a cutting diet, i'm assuming you already have what you're going to eat in check. Therefore, this is kind of a silly question. Order/Eat as close to your diet as possible. Grilled chicken breast, brown rice, veggies, etc. Nothing changes just because you're in a restaurant.
Having said that, I have a tough time keeping the drinking under control when in a restaurant - that'll kill the whole diet.
get your self something plain like chicken nothing with the likes of the sauce is made of fat.. no chips ask for rice hope this helps.
chicken, steak, fish,.....vegtables, rice,....diet pop..or water
also if your eating out you want to enjoy!......so if you do get a sauce then go for the tomato types not the cheesey types.....
Restaurants don't serve complex carbs. If they do, it'll be sweet potato pureed with cream/butter. Order a chicken breast or any filet of fish and tell them to sub the starch for more veggies. All restaurant veggies have butter, so specify steamed plain. Most will have an unhealthy sauce, whether specified on the menu or not, so no sauce. Really, eating out isn't a good idea on a strict diet because no matter what you get it's all high in sodium and cooked with multiple tbspns. of oil. Take my word for it, I was a head chef for 2-years and had to choose my body or my job. I chose my body - life.
Just thought of another. Grilled chicken/salmon/steak salad, no romaine/iceburg, sub mixed greens. Make sure to sub the spiced pecans (sugar coated), cranberries (sugar), cheese (saturated fat), whatever other shit is in there. No dressing (either saturated fat or sugar/oil), just evoo/vinegar on the side. Even the vinaigrettes are loaded with simple sugars and are usually made w/ 3 parts canola oil per 1 part vinegar. Also, don't think you're being difficult w/ all these substitutions - it's rare that anyone orders exactly as food is listed on the menu and I never did begrudge dieting customers.
Good comments in the thread D5 but what do you mean "restaurants dont serve complex carbs"? You can get beans, lentils, brown rice, and an assortment of other complex carbs at just about any restaurant. I agree you need to tell them how to cook them. Guess I am misunderstanding your initial statement.Quote:

It was certainly a generalization but I stand by it. I'll take your word on the brown rice but I haven't seen it on a menu in a long time. Granted, I live in Virginia! As for beans and lentils, they are often available on menus but in my experience (because they take so long to cook from scratch) are always pre-cooked and then heated to order. The pre-cooking process for both usually involves onions and other aromatics being sauteed in a ton of butter/oil/pork fat/often all three - then reduced down with a high sodium stock. Damien is right for the most part. My family owns a restaurant on the Jersey Shore and we hardly ever serve complex carbs that aren't fat laden. In fact, I don't think that we even serve beans in anything but the chili. Since they opened in 74 I don't think brown rice has ever come through that kitchen door except in my chinese food container.
How often do you eat out? One cheat meal a week won't hurt you.
If you ask nicely, most places will prepare food the way you want it, I usually try to avoid going out to eat all together, but if I do I go for a plain chicken breast, or fish and some veggies. If they have sweet potato'son the menu, just ask for a plain one, they usually think theres something wrong with you for getting a plain sweet potato...personally I think there great plain.
all i know is my wife is preg and dying to go out to eat and i myself am dying for some FRIED CALAMARI i know very bad so maybe ill just get some scungellie (i know i didnt spell that right) we havent been out in so long and i need a real good cheat meal even if it is a little over board.
Dont eat out unless your going for heart attack foods. Why go pay to eat the same diet food you eat at home? I would not buy grilled cajan chicken, veggie and brown rice when I make it at home all the time. When out you want the fatty, greasy, garbage, calorie filled food that just blows you away. Thats what I pay for. The shit I cant make at home. The 10,000 calorie meal of fried calamari with 2 dips, shrimp alfrado followed buy strawberry cheesecake. Maybe a few MGD's. Thats what you want to pay for. So I dont eat out when dieting because im not paying for the same food I make weekly at home. Just my 2 cents.

I eat out all the time. I have to, it comes with the job. It is difficult. I have it slightly easier as I live in a metropolitan area so generally the restuarants are more upscale then most. I almost always find something that will work with minimal changes.
They almost always have some sort of fish on the menu which will work. Ask for it grilled with no salt. Starch is by far the most difficult thing.
Just today had grilled salmon with a teryaki glaze whcih I asked for on the side and edamame..
