Confusion with Brown Rice vs Whole Wheat Pasta

Can someone plz clarify the difference to me why every diet posted on this site consists of brown rice and not whole wheat pasta?

Here r the nutritional facts on the two that i am eating:
Brown Rice per 45g (1/4 cup) serving: 160 cals, 4g pro, 35g carb, 1g fat
    Whole Wheat Pasta per 85g (1 1/2 cup) serving: 310 cals, 12g pro, 62g carb, 1.5g fat

Essentialy other then pasta having 4g of sugar and brown rice not having any sugar in it i dont really c any difference.

Can anyone please explain to me why one over the other.

Bingo. The GI value/load is slightly higher. It's more-processed in general as well. Also, I just feel like rice is a more versatile side without having to be coated in a tomato (sugar), cream (fat), or oil/cheese (fat) sauce .

That said, it's a decent carb source and if you like it, you should include it in your diet where applicable. I eat whole wheat pasta all the time with a little EVOO and a pinch of shredded pecorino-romano cheese. I can't stand brown rice.
