Need Help Gaining
So I've posted on here before but after I posted the diet that I would be going on I never did. Just kinda lost track. Anyways, I've got back into wanting to gain some weight and I have been talking to a buddy of mine who I trust and has some knowledge on this. He does body building competitions and to me knows what he's talking about.
About me: I'm 6'0 and weigh between 150 and 155. 27 years old gear free forever. Up until this week my diet has always sucked, but so far this week I have pretty much followed the same diet every day.
Breakfast: around 6:30 4 medium whole boiled eggs, three slices of wheat bread, with water.
Snack: 9:30 a muscle milk shake that i read today has 220 calories and 16gs of protein. Can of tuna,
Lunch: 12:30 consist of eating whatever the local diner has on the buffet. Which is usually a meat and three vegetables with a sweet tea.
Snack 5:30 2 whole cans of plain tuna(man don't see how people stomach this stuff all the time) with some saltine crackers with water
Bedtime meal 9-10 Two double cheeseburgers from mcdonals with a small order of fries. I know that this is not the ideal meal but my buddy says this would be a good way to just add some basic weight and that it would keep me all through the night especially with the potatoes added. with water
Now I know this meal doesn't have macros or anything added, just wanted someone opinions if eating this over and over every day would help with any weight gain. Again im not concerned if its all muscle just wanting to gain some. And as of right now there is no working out involved as I've taken a break from it. I know I might as well say it so flame away

First off you need to be working out it will obviously build muscle which will increase weight but it's gunna raise metabolism making you want more and more food again increasing weight.
And you don't gotta just eat tuna lol any fish, steaks are good intact most red meat, and snack on nuts I like brazil nuts they are fairly fatty so be careful of them but high protein.
Also that last meal is bad lol why not got some lean meatballs and grill them and have some variation of potatoes?? Be much better for you, you don wana end up with a high body fat do you?
Last thing I can tell ye is buy some 'optimum nutrition serious mass' it's damn good stuff I used it last year and put on some good size. Having 2 shakes a day is an extra 1200 calories. It has 250g carbs 50g protein and it has creatine L-glutamine and alot of vits and mins is ther.
Good luck mate

Naw man I don't want a high body fat. But then again, I'm naturally a hardgainer. The most I've ever weighed was 165 and that was right after I got out of Basic Trainning.
I've tried to read up on the London Broil and eating it before I go to bed but can never find out where to buy it. I've read its everything from a fine cut of meat that's nothing to special to having to do with the way you prepare and cook it.
I guess one question I'd like to have answered is, can you realistically eat the same stuff over and over every day. Like these 4 whole eggs, I know it's not a lot of them, but dang they are getting old. Id like to try the oats for breakfast, but then again I don't know what kind to buy. Is eating a cup of quaker plain oats out of the tub ok. I keep hearing about rolled and steel oats is there a difference between them and quaker oats. Guess, I'm new to the whole eating thing and sorry for all the questions, it's just gonna take me a while to get used to eating right or at least eating more than once or twice a day if im gonna gain weight.

Don't mean to sound a dick mate but I don't believe in 'hard gainers' everyone will gain no matter metabolism, height and activity level the key is finding a diet that works.
I don't really eat oats mate i dont really like them, sorry I can't help there. But don't feel bad for askin questions everyone here is glad to help.
Instead of having boiled eggs try them scrambled or maybe have an omlette u can put basically whatever you like into an omlette bacon, mushrooms etc when I have the time if I'm not rushing out to work I have a 6 egg omlette with mushrooms, onion and cheese it's really high protein and you can control the fat by taking out or keeping the egg yolks.
You could eat the same things over and over but it would get verrrrry boring lol mix it up do some research on here search the threads in the diet section for bulking diets you'll get plenty of info. It's all about preparing meals in your head really and knowing when and what your goin to eat.

You know Damien your right, my diet has been a joke for most of my life. I've pretty much ate what I wanted and nothing works to even gain an ounce. I know I can put on the weight because I have done it before like I said. I'm not perfect, but I'm trying to make a go at this diet stuff this time. By the way do you know anything about what I was asking about the rollled oats. Just curious the difference in them and just regular quaker oats. Also, any information you can give me on the london broil? Thanks man.

Oats are oats as long as it's not the individually packaged stuff with added raisins and sugar. Most of us like old-fashioned steel cut oats as they're the least processed.
Now for London Broil. It's Flank steak. Calling it "London Broil" is like calling ground beef "hamburger" - plenty of people do but it's usually not sold under that name. Flank Steak is my red meat of choice but any lean steak, lean ground beef, or bison is great for bulking.
Read Gbrice's first bulking diet thread just to get an idea of how you should be eating to gain. He just posted it up so it should be near the top.

alright thanks for the advice with the londbon broil on oats. and i checked the diet you told me to. sounds like dude defintely has a plan. did you happen to check out the diet i had posted. like i said it had been critiqued by jamyjamjr but i see where that guy has been banned. if you get time would you mind giving any suggestions for it.
also one other question, i feel that im gonna be eating a lot of tuna on this diet, as its cheap and fast to eat and no preperation. i noticed in another thread that alot of people say they drain the water out of it. is doing this ok? although i guess if you do it doesn't hurt anything. just curious if you get anything extra by gobbling up some of that juice thats in the can.
thanks

I don't wanna eat some fishy a** water. Drain that ish. But I wouldn't consume mass quantities of Tuna due to the mercury that will surely add up if you eat it several times every day. Learn to cook an this diet stuff gets easy.

So question if tuna contains mercury how much is bad for you. I've been consuming about two medium sized cans of tuna a day for a meal every day this past week. Is this to much? I guess I could try and replace it with something else that is quick and easy and the tuna is.

I think that probably is 2much mercury l, works out at about 14 tins a week that don't it lol
what I do is cook in bulk and freeze then simply take out to defrost the night before and wack it in the microwave.
Also mate steaks are quick to cook 8 minutes somethig like that whether your frying, grilling or baking it.

If it's solid white albacore (the good stuff) - it's waaaaaay too much. Even if it's the catfood known as chunk-light, I'd say 7 tins per week is the most. Basically, 1 tuna meal daily.

Having diet higher in fats may help you to gain some weight. Try to take more eggs, chicken, meat and foods with high fats. Eating foods about 5-6 times in a day may help to gain some weight. Eat small amount of foods after a regular interval of time.

Pretty much took the words out of my mouth. EVERYONE thinks they are a hard gainer because they have no idea how hard those of us who gain work at it.
You dont take AAS and sit on a couch. lol You dont take AAS until you are already in TOP form and need an extra kick to get past what your body can do naturally anymore. 99% of people dont do it this way though and a large number of people take aas and dont work out properly and get in ever worse shape than before with the added side effects such as bad acne, bitch tits/Gyno large amounts of water retention and many other problems.
Keep working on the diet, learning what to eat and when, get into the gym 5 days a week and soon enough you will start seeing good results..
BTW if you are looking for results in weeks or even a couple months stop looking and just keep working. Ive been at it for almost 3 years now and Im only now getting to be where I want to be. Im looking forward to the next 2 years, not the next 2 months.
You also need fats in your diet. There is good fat and bad fats but you need them for your body to function right.Last edited by lovbyts; 03-17-2010 at 01:20 AM.
