    To many shakes

I was wondering if i'm taking to many shakes i think most ppl say 2 is the limit right? I am eating 8 meals aday (smaller meals). But i drink whey protien for pre and post work out. And was thinking about adding casien protien befor bed... Bad idea?? or take one whey protien shake out and add another meal of chicken (im at like 3 chicken and rice meals as it is).

Also was thinking of getting protien bars case its getting hard carring food around with me or is that just like taking another shake?

I've had a pretty good diet for a while now but i'm about to start cyclen and i jsut want to get it as close to perfert as possible.

I dont think that is to much. The before bed shake being a slow digestive is good so you don't get hungry in your sleep. I also sometimes do a pre and after workout shake. It's good to make sure you have a good source of energy before you work out so you are not eating into the muscle. Usually I wake up after 4 hrs sleep and eat a banana or some yogurt/cereal or something.

Everyone looks at the number of shakes to determine if a diet is solid, no pun intended. What we really should be looking at is the number of whole food meals. If you have 5 whole food meals that contain protein via meat and clean energy sources - I see no problem with having 3 shakes.

Shakes can sometimes catch some flak, but when I was in Iraq I was literally living off them. In no way is it a subsitute for real food, but when your in a pinch it's better than nothing. I pound one as soon as I wake up, pre workout, post workout, pre cardio, post cardio (I do 2adays) and casien before I sleep. Is it too much? who knows! Do I really NEED them? Beats me! Can I afford it? Not at all! Am I completely insane? Good Chance!

That would be more considered whole food or a meal. Shakes are just the pre packaged whey protein or ???

    i have the same question.

i do 2 tblspn peanut butter, 1 scoop whey (25gm) and 4 eggs (25gm). so its around 60 with the peanut butter. do you guys consider it a shake or real food? does it absorb more like real food or like a shake? when im running low on time its easy to preblend and leave in my cooler for later.

Still a shake. It's just a better shake. All PWO cocktails should contain either fats or carbs in addition to fast protein.

I recently read a Keto diet (I think the link was in the CKD thread) where an expert (so called) said to only take protein PWO, in fact have read that several times. Anyone agree?

I was drinking 6 shakes a day during my first cycle. Yeah I put on a load of muscle but I got plump for the first time ever in my life (I've always been lean).

I'm on my second cycle now and I haven't got any Whey Protein at all, I thought I'd just use meat instead, but it didn't work out well. I reckon I'd be way bigger if I'd been wolfing back the shakes.

I know loads of people say you shouldn't have too many shakes but I haven't had any problems (other than getting plump of course).

Ideally, yes. Once a day PWO, especially on a keto diet, is best. However, if it's more than that sometimes, "it's not the end of the world," seems to be the general consensus as long as the diet as a whole looks strong.

Clearly you were consuming a ton of cals via shakes if you got plump. Calories dictate size gains more indicate anything in a meat v. protein shake debate!
