    Drinking Egg Whites?

The title pretty much says it all--is there any issue with drinking a carton or two of egg whites and using it as the protein component of a meal?

I have a very small amount of time in the AM to eat and I can drink a carton of egg whites in about 30 seconds vs the 10-15 minutes it would take me to cook them and eat them. Not to mention it does not fill me up as much so that I am ready to eat again a short time later (this is a good thing).

Does not cooking the eggs somehow prevent protein from being absorbed? Any other issues to consider? I believe whites are pasteurized so it should be more safe than say a raw whole egg.

Only concern i woulx have is thAt said meal would not be verry nutritious, it doesnt contain all of the macronutrients either.

It would be bettee if you blended them with oats n natty peanut butter

thanks, i guess i wasn't too clear--i drink a bunch of egg whites and then have some watered down oatmeal i can drink and some fat as well. the main idea though was if it were problematic to drink uncooked eggs. i was thinking maybe they'd pass thru the system too quickly to be absorbed or something.

I dont know the exact numbers but Im pretty sure that I have read somewhere that the nutrients of the cooked egg is almost 50% more available to your body than the uncooked egg. So say the egg has 6 grams of protien, your body will only get about 3 from an uncooked egg and you are talking just the egg white so it would be even less than that.

Whats wrong with the yolk? It contains other amino's, such as trytophan aswell as a host of digestive enzymes to aid in the digestion of the egg white.

You should cook it either way though IMHO. The exception is PWO, but even then, I think Whey/Casein or BCAA's/Leucine is superoir

This^^^ raw eggs have a horrible bioavailable percentage, where cooked eggs are one of the most bioavailable sources of protein out there. Sucking down raw eggs is old school but is really a waste.

Heres what you can do, cook up a carton and blend it with water and whey. Chug it and done!

I've been using the egg whites available in cartons as my PWO pro source for years now, and my gains have been tremendous.....

whey, IMO, is overrated, and frankly I don't trust the contents of any pro powder available.....while whey is an excellent source of pro and high in BA, the powder products are just that -- whey products.....they essentially sluice right thru you, as whey powders are processed forms of the original product
