Depends, what kind of protein, how long from ingestion til cardio, length of cardio, intensity of cardio. The answer is more than likely a combination of both. To what degree will be largely dependant upon some of the aforementioned factors.

would you please explain a little more?

when does body start to use protein for energy??????

let's say I have 20% bodyfat (I really don't), why in world would my body break down muscles to use as energy instead of using that stored fat?

It can if it had to. And that's very bad because then we can't use it to build muscles with.

FG will correct me if i'm wrong, but in simple terms - your body has to work alot harder to maintain a lb. of muscle vs. a lb. of bodyfat. Unfortunately we weren't 'designed' to be 200lb ripped guys with 10% bodyfat. Our bodies are always looking for the easiest means to exist, and are ready and willing to give up muscle to make that happen.

The same reason people breath out of their mouth even though they have a nose.

Your body can only oxidize stored bodyfat at a certain rate, if the demand for energy exceeds this rate the body will go elsewhere. There are several other factors which greatly influence this but this is the simplest answer I can give you that should be easy to make sense of.

Try watching them again and taking notes

Your body uses Carbohydrates as its main source of fuel, second in line for energy is fats, Third in line is protein

If you dont eat for long enough your body will begin to breakdown muscle tissue for a source of energy
