    splenda????

how much is too much splenda? i need to ween myself off of this sweetner. i ususally have about 6-10 packs a day. have some in my green tea and/or coffee, sometimes in my oats, and sometimes on my cottage cheese. i think i can do without it, but that stuff is like crack! would it be a good idea to drink a glass of water after drinking/eating anything with splenda in it? and another question, how does splenda get broken down by the body, or does it even metabolize into anything?

I feel your pain bro, between my oats and coffee i'm around 8 packs/day myself.

I actually just found and bought Stevia this weekend - it's an extract from a plant and is a natural sweetner that has been used in some cultures for thousands of years (sort of like agave). I had it with my oats and it was pretty good, you should check it out! Like I said, 100% natural, so no side effects to worry about.

i will give it a shot. in my oats, i just usually do cinnamon and either banana or blueberries. i also have a great recipe for oatmeal waffles/pancakes. it is great, has egg whites in it and everything.

Just an FYI: be careful with the stevia, a little goes a long way and if you use too much, it will taste bitter. Also, read the label of the brand that you choose to make sure that it is all natural (some brands have additives). I prefer SweetLeaf brand, and they even have flavored drops that I use in alot of things (i.e. vanilla creme, valencia orange, chocolate raspberry, etc.).

For me personally, I find the stevia to be pretty equal to splenda in terms of sweetness... I use the same number of packets. I did try less at first though.

I know hardly anybody uses this stuff anymore, but I wonder what Equal or Sweet N' Low would taste like with oats? Probably awful.
