Hi guys. I just have a couple questions. Are nuts a good calorie source while cutting? Any particular kind of nuts? Also, what, besides sugar and starch, do I absolutely, positively want to stay away from while cutting?
Thanks,
MS

Nuts are a good fat source. Eaten at the proper time of day, along with the proper macro combo, they are fine while cutting. Almonds seem to be preferred, but just about any nut is good.
You don't need to stay away from starch (sugar, yes) while cutting - again, just like with fats, eaten at the right time of day with a lean protein source, they are fine.
Thanks for the reply. What, besides nuts, would be a good "snack" to munch on throughout the day that would suit someone who is cutting? I don't have time to eat 6 or more big meals a day, but I would like to keep my body in a non-catabolic state.
Any suggestions?
Honestly, there's nothing I can really reccomend as a snack that's not going to turn into a full blown meal. You really REALLY need to try and find a way to eat at least 6 meals a day. They don't need to be huge; just properly portioned for your caloric needs.
If you absolutely can only fit in a snack, you still need your protein so the easiest (although not cheap) would be a low sodium beef jerkey. Pair that with some almonds and you have a nice protein/fat meal right there.
I would not suggest eating just nuts as a snack - you're basically just taking in fat. You need protein at every meal.
ok, thanks! Why do I need to stay away from the sodium?
Sodium is a huge catalyst for water retention; too much sodium and you will feel and look bloated and generally unpleasant.
