Thread: keto today

    keto today

    so i had been on a fairly aggressive low carb high protein diet after reading some posts i decided to convert to a keto starting today (thursday) so far diet as of today as follows.

    8 am: 2 whole eggs 6 whites 2000mg fish oil
    10:45 am: 6 oz chicken 2000 mg fish oil
    1:00 pm: 8 oz lean beef with cheese with yellow peppers and zucchini and 2000mg of fish oil.

    I will post the rest of my meals for the day tonight.

    I am a bit lethargic but no worse than the 100 grams or less of carbs per day.
    my biggest concern will be my carb loading that starts friday night as I have not researched yet the best way to do this and how much to intake but hopefully I can get some input here to help. Thanks ST

    Keto dieting is about a 40/60 give or take pro/fat calorie ratio. Your 3 meals so far look to be 60/40 protein cals. The cheese is your only fat source other than 4g of fish oil. For example, your 8:00 AM meal should be like 5 or 6 whole eggs. Your next meal should be 6 oz. chicken breast with 1.5 tbspn. olive oil or something. Your third meal should be 6 oz. lean beef with no peppers (sugar) and 2 oz. of cheese (although I'd choose a healthy fat).

    As for your carb load, I'd wait until NEXT friday. Let your body establish ketosis before you stuff yourself full of carbs after only 1.5 days of keto.

    thankyou I will work to adjust this around to get it right I am very concerned about keeping muscle so that is why i was concentrating on protein i need to learn more about the math that is involved

    do you think it will take me that long to go keto when i have had less that 100 g per day for the last 17 days?

    100g daily isn't enough to keep your engine firing on all cylinders but it's also not enough to shift you from a carb-burning engine to a fat-burning machine. It won't take long to get into keto but I think you should give your body some time to adjust is all.

    cool thanks for the info I really appreciate the help I only need to drop 3% to meet my goal and I am motivated to do so.

    ok my day finished like this

    1 pm 8 oz lean ground beef with cheese yellow peppers/zucchini 2k mg fish oil
    530 pm 3 whole eggs
    645 pm 12 oz fish 1 cup spinach 2 string cheese

    any more input is appreciated I will adjust tomorrow as suggested earlier I expect to follow this routine through next friday at which point i will start carb loading please suggest any carbs that will work best for this. thanks again ST

    add a before bed meal. either 4-6 oz. steak or 1 scoop of casein w/ 2 tbson. natty pb.

    well this is my 3rd day minimal carbs. with adding more fats my energy has been sufficient and my wife is about to kill me because of the food I consume I was @ 13% on monday one week ago tomorrow I will test again in another week I feel like im dropping fat belly fat seems to be going and my ketostix says trace of acetoacetic acid so hope soon i will be in a complete state of ketosis. thanks for all the help. ST
