    Defrosted Meat

Hey guys, just got a quick painless question.

I've never really been a big believer in eating meat that has been frozen, ye i know pretty dumb. Does defrosted meat taste any different from normal (namely beef).

I'm pretty confident the nutritional value shouldn't be affected.

    Thanks for the input fellas!

I dont notice any difference in meat that i have defrosted through the refrigerator. Now i do notice a difference when i defrost in a microwave. It makes the meat more tough imo. I only do this when i have forgotten to put the meat out or in the fridge

True, thanks for the quick reply. Do you think the type of meat comes into play?

No. I buy in bulk and freeze beef, chicken, and fish.

I freeze meat all the time. I think if you freeze it correctly and try to use it within a year or sooner I find there to be know difference in taste. The best way to freeze anything is with a food saver. Vaccuum sealed. Also defrost it slow. Never put it in the microwave to defrost.

That is exactly what I am considering.

Yep, I'll give it a shot, fridge defrost only!

Fridge defrost is the best imo. But in a bind, I will sometimes let it thaw in a bowl of cold water and I still don't notice much of a difference in taste.
