Any kind of beans are going to throw you out of ketosis if thats what your asking.
Now beans are about as low on the glycemic index as you can get and they are the only form of carbs i get when cutting. I eat mostly lentils which have a GI of around 30.
Now with GI that low, the digestion process is slowed considerably and the insulin spike is very minimal.
So in short, for Ketosis, not a good idea. For a low carb cutting diet, beans are the way to goLast edited by Pheedno; 02-11-2003 at 08:34 AM.

Heres a link to a GI index. Beans are down the list a little bit. Just make sure to use the Glucose based column

Sorry to bump an ancient thread but im thinking of incorporating red beans into my PPWO meal.. in a cup of red beans we have 36grams of carbs (12 g fiber), 1 g fat, 14g of protein.. I would love to hear some thoughts on this..

Fiber slows digestion. PWO this is not what you want to do.

I still consider the PPWO a time for fast acting/high gi carbs.
Beans won't hurt you, no, but they may not benefit you completely either.
