    Whats your opinion on milk??

I just wanted to get some opinions on incorperating milk into your diet when doing a bulking cycle?? The reason i ask is when i did my first cycle i drank a gallon of milk a day and gained 30lbs of muscle and lost 5 lbs of fat (was also playing Rugby at the time) However i dodn't ever see anyone recomend it or have it as a part of thier diet, even when bulking.. Is there a particular reason for that?? i drink about 2 liters a day (which is over 100g of protien, when not on AAS) just because i work from home and its always in the fridge.. I know that people say it makes you a bit puffy, but when bulking your gonna look puffy anyways.. got any opinions??

Some guys will tell you it is high in sugar and makes you soft. But I find it to be a great way to add extra protein. I just don't over do it. I drink skim milk and about 16 oz a day.....or I will use it to mix my post workout shake on workout days.

I drink lots of milk, and is great source of protein, and the carbs are good, unless you are on KETO diet you should not drink milk, if not milk is my friend.

Milk has about 3.5 grams of protein in 100grams of milk, so 35 in liter, and 70 in 2 liters not 100.

personally dont respond well to milk - bloats me up, should be careful drinking it as the sugar (lactose) content is higher than the protein content, its definetely not for before bed as even though most of the protein is casein (i think its 70%) the sugar will inhibit insulin release and thats not something you want before bed!

excessive amounts of milk holds water under the skin so i doubt the 30lbs you gained was all muscle.

so i imagine that is why people say it gives you a "puffy" look.. do you know the science behind it.. as to why it holds water under the skin??

i like milk i mix my postworkout shake with it and in the event that i need to get a "meal" in on the quick then i sometimes have a protien shake with lowfat milk....i realize it is not a true whole food meal but in a pinch its a deacent substitute....

Miilk is fur bebbies, yu groow up yu drink beer!

Of course he was joking. Milk, or more specifically casein, milk's protein is a valuable source for the bb'er. Although it bloats some (as expressed above), it's a central and inexpensive resource for many others.

As everything consumed (except water) breaks down into glucose (a primary ATP, and later ADP & AMP source of energy), I think too much is made of the sugar issue regarding such NATURAL and obviously inexpensive proteins as milk. So this is one of those try it for yourselfers; see how your body responds and then it apply it accordingly.

    If no problems, drink up
If you hold water, use during bulking
If it causes dirrahea, use when constipated

Milk is more likely to cause bloating if you lack the lactase enzyme to any degree (ie. lactose intolerancy) And a lot of people are allergic to milk. It's really not the healthiest drink either. Goats milk...and especially sheeps milk are healthier.....contain less lactose and the hormonal byproducts that typical non-organic cows milk contains.

i used to do that years ago - the best tasting drink ever! pasteurised milk doesnt compare in taste, raw milk also contains healthy bacteria and enzymes that get destroyed through the pasteurising process.

If I'm in a situation where I havent been able to eat right that day, and there is no protein supplement available, like on the road, I'll drink some milk to get my daily protein requirements.

its sounds like milk is great for YOU regardless of what anyone else thinks...

but personally i dont drink alot of it... for 1 its high in fat and sugar which is bad in most cases, and secondly its liquid so it doesn't fill me up as much as whole food...

if i have milk i get the 0.1% fat skimmed sh1t and limit it to morning and post workout meals only, but i dont see it as a must for building mass or anything like that, like i do beef
