    Too much protein - converted to fat??

    Is it possible to convert protein to fat?

    Ive done lots of Googling and there are detailed reports, however some providing evidence it does only in very very extreme circumstances, some saying it isnt really possible. And some saying it just isnt possible...

    Any help please?

    It's possible if you're eating way over your tdee but the body has to go through extensive trials and tribulations to do so and therefore, you'd need to eat A LOT on a protein only diet to get fat.

    this is how eating to much protien can make you fat ;

    Excess dietary fat is directly stored as fat
    Excess dietary carbs increases carb oxidation, impairing fat oxidation; more of your daily fat intake is stored as fat
    Excess dietary protein increases protein oxidation, impairing fat oxidation; more of your daily fat intake is stored as fat

    so in most cases, only dietary fat is stored as fat...

    you can thank swifto for this info....

    This isn't about protein, but the previous statement on excess carbohydrates

    As I've been taught.. excess carbs, in turn, produce excess glucose. Once cells have their fill, the remaining unused glucose is sent to the liver to be converted into triglycerides(fat) then stored.

    Agreed that the body will rely on carbs as fuel and not so much on fat when there is sufficient carb intake present; which is how most diets are set up. When almost no carbs are present, the body will enter ketosis and burn fat for fuel until carbohydrates become present again.
