Buffalo, by far the best! No flavor lost at all if you cook it correctly.

Extra lean ground beef, bison, venison, well trimmed flank steak have all factored into my cutting diets.

Echoing all the above - my favs are bison, 93/7 (or better) lean ground beef, and flank steak. I did london broil for a while and it's so damn boring! Flank is much more tender and WAY more flavorful when cooked correctly.

-

Ok, I could have been jumping the gun when I said it was the WORST choice, but it's not considered a lean cut of beef.

If the Filet is prepared as it often is, with some type of butter/garlic sauce, or wrapped in bacon, it's horrible. Otherwise its just a fancy cut of backstrap, which is usually the most tender cut and most tasty from the animal.
Having said that, I prefer Moose and Bison to any cut of cow. It's really noticeable to me the difference in taste, texture, and how I feel after.

Those facts for filet mignon are wrong. It's not as bad as Ribeye but more than 1/2 the cals per 4 oz. are via fat.
