    afraid of the carbs!!

So I'm new here and I've been reading the diet section about how to cut my body fat %. I'm 40 years old 6'2", 200 lbs right on the nose. I had always dropped my body fat by basically just sticking to a zero carb diet while intaking 1.5 grams protein per pound of body weight. Granted I never see great muscle gains but I always lost the fat and the gains werent nothing, just not as good as thy could have been. Now that I'm 40 it dosent seem to be working anymore. Just cant seem to drop any more BF no matter how hard I diet or work out. My mid section fat just does not want to leave. I havent lost a pound in a month. Now everything I've been reading here about adding carbs to my postworkout intake to help me lose BF and increase muscle gains sounds great but it's a little scary seeing as I've been living the low carb lifestyle forever! I afraid of adding more fat to the problem! I am thinking about using clen to lose a little more BF before I start adding carbs to my diet, or should I just jump in and forget the clen.... I'm a little confused as to which way to go. I want to drop my BF more before I do my first cycle.

Personally, it sounds like you've been running a very haphazard diet over the years. It sounds like you've kept carbs ultra low, but not to the point of being a ketogenic diet. If you do it, you have to do it all the way.

It would be easiest if you post up your current diet so we can have a look at it. Include time of day for each meal, where your workout fits in, and macro info in the form of protein/carbs/fat/total calories.

IMO and with my body, I look the best when dieting with some carbs. If my main goal was to loose fat and try retain some muscle.. I would at least have 40g carbs pre workout and 60g carbs straight after you workout with protein. Also another 40g in the next meal. Now that's only 140g of carbs wich is nothing. Don't be affraid of carbs the write carbs are your friend not enemy.

Everyone is different though.. If I do a 0 carb diet I Look realy soft.

My current diet is not so rigidly scheduled, I think I eat pretty good so I will give an example of an average day although I am in construction and work in different locations everyday so I usually try to make the gym early but if I can't I hit it after work

    5:30am 50g Protein shake 25grams whey 25grams soy & 5 grams creatine, 15 grams flaxseed
6:00am - 7:00am workout Mon chest/tricep Tues Bicep/back Wed Shoulders Thurs abs/legs (3 to 4 sets of 8 reps on each muscle group)
7:05am 75g Protein shake Immediately post workout 50grams whey / 25 grams soy
10:30am - 11:00am usually 2 eggs and sausage or bacon w/ cheese (no bread)
1:00pm to 2:00pm Lunch usually consists of homemade chicken salad with mayo/celery/pepper/onions or Homemade Egg Salad with celery sticks and cheese also another protein shake of 50g (25g whey / 25g soy)
6:00pm to 7:00pm Dinner, consists of lean steak and broccoli, pork chops and green beans, grilled chicken and spinach. always along those lines, sometimes I will add another shake at dinner time if I ate a little lite during the day. but not usually

That is a pretty average day for me, had my BF% measured by one of the trainers at my gym today, came in at 17.2%
I don't really know all my macro info, how many calories i'm taking in etc. because all i ever cared about was carb intake. This diet basically started as the Atkins diet years ago for me and I added a gym routine. I used to drop 30lbs in 30 days ten years ago doing this. Now I eat this way all year because the fat just piles on when i eat badly

You need to figure out the macros and we can shed some light on it. Off the info you gave...bacon and sausage, get rid of it. Mayo same thing. No clue what is in the chicken salad, need macros. Too much protein from shakes. Pork chops, extremely high in fat. I see very few complex carbs. I see no chicken breast at all which should be in there every single day due to it's extremely low calories, high protein and low fat.

You are way off base in your quest to eliminate carbs. Carbs help you grow lean body mass, complex carbs keep you full, carbs give you energy. You want to lose "weight" go right ahead and slash the carbs. But that weight will be in muscle. Your goal should be to build LBM because that is what will speed up your metabolism, but you can't do that on a carb deficient diet. I am cutting right now and have never eaten as many carbs in my life, but the GOOD ones. Vegetables, brown rice and sweet potatoes to name a few. You need them.

Take an hour of your day out and figure out the macros, just "limiting or caring about carbs" is not the way to look at a healthy diet. You have no idea what you are eating so how can you make any adjustments or see where you are at? If you can't figure it out we can't either.

I am 38 and like you the older I got the hard it was for me to lose fat. Diet was on (your diet could be improved as others discussed above--add more chicken and fish....drop the fatty meats...and you are drinking too many shakes). Workouts were on. Cardio was on. Added Clen and T3 and the fat came off (and is still coming off). Need to do your homework on these drugs. I only add the T3 while I am on cycle as it eats muscle and fat. When on gear muscle loss isn't noticable. Muscle gains arent as much but the fat loss is worth it

Stop with the bacon and cheese. Eat lean protein, fibrous veggies, and fat via oils/nuts/avocados if you wanna run a low-carb, ketogenic diet.

at least 55% of cals via fat, the rest via protein. Keep net carbs under 20g daily. lose fat rapidly. done.
